The Bush administration, which for 5 years now has done absolutely nothing to curb the flow of illegal aliens into this country, has decided it's time to do something about it. For quite some time now their solution has been to do nothing....except propose an amnesty disguised as a guest worker program. Nobody wants to talk about deporting those that break the laws of the United States and sneak into this country. To send them back might cost Republicans the Hispanic vote, and we can't have that.
But the political pressure is on. People are tired of the United States being overrun with illegals, and the billions of dollars a year it is costing us in social welfare spending. Democrats are starting to steal the issue...and could even use it to take back the Congress next year. So Hispandering is out and cracking down is in. The president is scheduled to make a speech on the issue today. What will he say?
He's still going to stick to the guest worker program. To qualify for the program, all you'd have to do is break into the United States from Mexico....sneaking across the border as an illegal alien. Then, apply for a guest worker card, and you get to work here for 6 years. He will also call for tightening border security and enforcing the immigration laws. But that's talking out of both sides of his mouth.
The fact is that if he's going to excuse the act of illegal immigration itself, then how can he at the same time propose cracking down on it? How do you say that you're going to crack down on border security, but at the same time allow everyone who is here illegally to stay for 6 years?
And is anyone naive enough to believe that at the end of the six years, all of the illegal aliens are going to magically just leave? Fat chance. But because there are votes to be had...the Hispandering will continue. In the meantime, Al-Qaeda is gearing up down in Mexico...ready to sneak across the border for their next Islamic terrorist attack.
Sure does make you feel safe, doesn't it?
Nope...just very, very angry.
The solutions are simple:
1.Deport all illegals in mass and show Mexico this country is NOT to be abused.
2.The U.S. should not be Mexicanized.
3.Immigration and Invasion are two different things
4.Who cares about the Hispanic vote? And why?
5.Quit talking and just do it!
6.Build a wall across the borders
7.Make "legal" immigration open to "all" not just Mexicans.
8.Ask me to pay a tax to help deport them all and I will.
9.If you must, have them pass an English test. Fail, Adios.
10. Stop Wendy's from hiring so many illegals
11. Stop giving loans to illegals who lie on their loan apps.
12. Stop selling real estate to illegals with fake docs
and I can think of a dozen other solutions. Solutions are available. Balls to enforce them is what's lacking.
Actually no.
It makes me feel like I should check all my magazines again - just to make doubly sure I have the proper loads.
The consensus was that they republicans want their votes and not ours. I don't know if Bush & Co. realize what a huge issue this is.
I think they'll find out in 2006...
All that keeeps our President from being a near-great President is his failure to root out and deport the illegals in our Country, and then, seal the border. But, given the scope of this fatal flaw, that is like saying that Hitler was a great leader except for his war crimes. He is fighting the enemy abroad while embracing invaders at home!
We are handing this country to Mexico on a silver platter. I have no problem with immigrants coming here legally and speaking our language, but I am deeply upset and concerned about this double language mind set. Why does everything have to be written in English and Spanish, even the Tide to Go pen I bought last week was co written in Spanish.
bingo!
I said it in an earlier thread, and I'll say it again. There is really only one logical explanation for the state of things. It is by design.
Our fine misrepresentatives and the standing POTUS can talk and talk and talk about this issue and accomplish the very thing they want - nothing. Absolutely nothing.
It's only a complex problem if you don't really want to solve it.
Take that Wendy's, auction off the property, jail the owners and managers, and fine them every cent they lawfully can. I believe all those items are on the books. All we have to do is enforce the current laws and the illegals will deport themselves: No jobs, no places to live. RICO can be a heavy duty weapon.
> The Republicans under Bush have been so worried about courting the Hispanic vote, that they are losing their voters.
They're not courting the Hispanic vote. Hispanics who got here LEGALLY are angry as heck at the current situation.
It is the companies who want cheap labor that Bush is courting. If there were significant and damaging fines for hiring illegals at the company level, you'd see the problem drop dramatically. But W and the Republicans will NEVER do this from what I'm seeing.
OK, it is too obvious but I'll say it anyway. Until the politicians actually start feeling consequences for their actions or the lack of, we will get the status quo.
I got a call from the Texas Republican Party yesterday wanting money. What was their main accomplishment that I should give them money for getting done? Amendment 2, Marriage is between a man and a woman. Boy they faced some tough sledding on that one the guy said. Even had out of state money come in from groups like "Move On Dot Org" come in and now the Republican coffers were gittin' mighty dry.
I said that amendment passed with 75% of the vote. You could have not spent a dime and it would have passed. You came to the wrong watering hole, pardner if you expect me to freshen up your coffers. I've had it with Republicans. I'm from Missouri (originally). Y'all are gonna have to show me something, not just talk a bunch of hoo-hah.
Yeah, loses nearly all the credit he would get for the Iraqi pacification because what's the point of killing them there if they can just come waltzing in here anytime they want? It's the elephant in the living room that they adamantly refuse to talk about. It's the primary thing I'm mad at President Bush about. It detracts from the good our soldiers and marines are doing over there. I won't say their efforts are for naught, but they are for a lot less because the battle for the home front is not being fought.
The building of his Socialist Community of North America requires the destruction of this nation.
Apparently we will never get the chance to vote for anyone who will do anything about the situation. That is the part that is more than infuriating, it feels like slavery.
It is not about the Hispanic vote. Those Hispanics who here who are actual citizens and vote have the most to lose with further illegal invasion.
It is about the cheap labor lobby.
> Y'all are gonna have to show me something, not just talk a bunch of hoo-hah.
This is exactly right. I won't go so far as to say I'm voting Dim or 3rd party-- but I will tell them a) you're not getting my money and b) I'm going to vote for "none of the above" -- propositions only-- unless the GOP starts acting like the GOP.
Harriet Miers got replaced by a real conservative ONLY when we came back and made ourselves heard. It can be done!!!
