I heard on the radio this morning, that a pilot of a passenger jet departing LAX claimed to have narrowly avoided being hit by a missile. It was reported that the jet was about 6,000 feet in altitude & over the ocean when the event occurred. The news report further stated that authorities believe it was possibly a flare or a "bottle rocket."
I googled but found nothing. Anyone else have some info on this? I dont recall whether it was CBS or NBC radio news.
Go take a hike
mmmmmmmmmm, El Tarasco.
I moved back home to the Bay Urea and have found even better: Baja Cactus in Milpitas, CA. The corn tortillas are home made, 1/8" thick, and when wrapping a nopalitos con huevo with beans and rice is most heavenly.
bttt
I believe the threat is real. Thanks having the presence of mind and intestinal fortitude to do research and come to a different conclusion! If you come up with something not linked to,... be my guest.
No, it isn't. LOL! Don't want to take my word for it?
This is from the official LAX website. You can argue with them as to who owns LAX and dispute what city LAX belongs to. Click on "Just the Facts". (How appropriate)
http://www.lawa.org/lax/generalDescription.cfm
"The airport occupies 3,425 acres (1,386 hectares) within the City of Los Angeles Reference point coordinates are 33o 56' north latitude by 118o 24' west longitude. Elevation is 125.55 feet"
By the way, LAX not only has their own DOA P.D. (Dept of airports P.D.) hired and trained by LA city, they also have an LAPD substation within the airport. LA in this case mean the City of Los Angeles.
Now, I think we've ascertained where LAX is.
I took the city's word for it instead. Go look at the map.
I sent Melanie an email yesterday thanking her for her work on this, she replied to me today saying she'll stay on it.
Forget the map man. This is a *City of Los Angeles* website that clearly says LAX is in and controlled by the City of Los Angeles. Even the cabs and limos that operate out of LAX need LA City airport permits. Trust me, I am intimately familiar with LAX, including the CTA (central termial area)and the surrounding areas.
I keep coming back and reading the posts. So far, I have not read where the missile attack was confirmed. Does anyone know?
I don't think it was confirmed. If it were, it would have been the biggest news story of the month. You'd think if it was a legitimate report, the pilot and crew would have been interviewed, or the airline would at least make a statement denying or confirming. Then again, who knows. Any news involving a commercial aircraft is a rather touchy issue, and a few stand to lose lots of money.

Forget the *City of Los Angeles* man. This is a *City of Los Angeles* map that clearly says LAX is in and controlled by the City of Weschester.
Ok Jig saw its the los angeles airport of westchester can we be pals now Hoever LAX is in Westchester and Westchester is in L.a Welcome to free republic has your beeber been stunned yet
Thanks. I needed a good laugh. OK, it's officially LAX of Westchester! All we have to do now is remove all the LA City permit stickers, and LA City emblems off everything at LAX, and fire all the LAPD cops and firemen that work there. Hey, lets rename it LAWX. Thanks Al. Oh, and my beeber (among other things) quit working long ago.
Now, the big question is, is Ontario Airport actually in Ontario? And does John Wayne Airport belong to the Wayne family?
Of course not. It's in Canada. ;-)
Or is it Rancho Cucamonga? What the heck is a Cucamonga anyway? Sounds like some jungle jibberish.
I'd really like to know how they came up with this explanation, especially since they never recovered a single piece of evidence that remotely pointed to this and there were over two hundred eyewitnesses.
Its possible that the MSM is covering this up to sabotage the war on terrorism.
