Ditto. What's so "conservative" about a guy being a pain in the ass?
---

His policies are neither rational nor conservative:

"Recently he suggested that the U.S. should consider bombing Mecca in response to an Islamic terrorist strike on U.S. soil; demanded that the government drop the design for a Pennsylvania memorial to Sept. 11 victims because its crescent shape is a symbol of Islam"

"They note how he seizes the opportunity to advance his cause after events such as the killing of Denver police Detective Donald "Donnie" Young, allegedly by illegal immigrant Raul Gomez-Garcia."

----

He is the Jesse Jackson of the right. Headline grabbing, running on emotions, demaguaging... it is a shame he has such a fan base here on FR.

Makes about as much sense as a holocaust memorial in the shape of a swastika.

I wouldn't go that far to describe him, but the headline grabbing and such are some of the things that make me leery. Maybe it's just me, but I am always leery of people like that, especially politicians. We have a TON of them in my area. There are many of their policies that I agree with, but their methods (dirty politics, headline grabbing, steamrolling anyone who disagrees with them, etc.) leave much to be desired.

True. Bombing Mecca wouldn't be much of a rational response. But I'm not going to get into any discussion with anyone about that.

You don't think you're just looking at the image that the media have created for him? I heard his comment about Mecca, and it was hardly an unequivocal call for retaliation. He wasn't saying it should be done in response to any old attack, but only to something on the order of a nuking of one of our cities. And even then, it was only a suggestion that he brought to the table. Morally, it's no different from the "mutual-assured destruction" policy that we maintained during the Cold War.

If you actually listen to him talk, he speaks in calm, measured, rational terms. Nothing at all like Jesse Jackson.

Tancredo has simply inheritied the Buchanan Bridgades on FR. The same people who were pro-Buchanan and anti-Bush are the same ones that make up the Tancredo Cult. But watch out because they are a vicious bunch who will add you to the "FR hit list" they maintain on another forum.

For some reason they cannot realize that some people just do not like the man because he does act like the "Jesse Jackson of the right". It has nothing to do with his message.

And you have a problem with Tancredo opposing govt support or funding for a Pennsylvania memorial to Sept 11 because its' crescent shape is a symbol of Islam? I would hope on this point alone that every American would be outraged by this proposed memorial that ends up being a tribute to the Muslim Islamic killers rather than the American heroes who fought back and resisted them, as well as the other American victims who died on that day.
