You really want to know what makes you belong on DU? It's not that you don't like Tancredo. It's that you sit there and make unsubstantiated claims, just like the Democrats do. They know that all they have to do is repeat the allegation often enough without making the slightest attempt to support any of it, and the MSM will run with it.

Kinda like what Goebbels use to say... repeat a lie enough times till it becomes the truth.

"...demanded that the government drop the design for a Pennsylvania memorial to Sept. 11 victims because its crescent shape is a symbol of Islam"
Makes about as much sense as a holocaust memorial in the shape of a swastika.

I think this was an attempted to get attention and flame peopleYou're right, I should have just ignored him. I guess my only excuse (such as it is) is that it's getting late at night. I should probably be heading to bed soon.

Tancredo is one of the few straight shooters in Congress. One of the few to be a voice for the silent majority on opposition to this illegal immigration invasion

he really has not added much but rhetoric to the conversation. The stated premise (in prior posts) is:
1. Tancredo is right on immigration.
2. Tancredo is the wrong messenger because he cannot win national office. (Name one member of the U.S. House of Representatives who has ascended directly to the presidency without serving as a governor or senator first).
3. The best way to achieve a win on the immigration issue is to persuade those GOP candidates who have a real chance of winning the presidency to adopt/co-opt Tancredo's stance on immigration.
You call this rhetoric. I call this a cogent argument that has been met with nothing but flames by Tancredo purists who refuse to acknowledge that he cannot, and will not, be elected to the presidency.

He is the Jesse Jackson of the right. Headline grabbing, running on emotions, demaguaging... it is a shame he has such a fan base here on FR. I wouldn't go that far to describe him, but the headline grabbing and such are some of the things that make me leery. Maybe it's just me, but I am always leery of people like that, especially politicians. We have a TON of them in my area. There are many of their policies that I agree with, but their methods (dirty politics, headline grabbing, steamrolling anyone who disagrees with them, etc.) leave much to be desired.
True. Bombing Mecca wouldn't be much of a rational response. But I'm not going to get into any discussion with anyone about that.

This guy has been the loan voice out there for sooo long. If he can't make it all the way in 08, by gosh, I'd like to see him putting the fire under some of these candidates to take a stand on the issues.

And by stating the truth you have enraged the Tancredo Cult. They cannot stand when someone doesn't literally worship the man. One of them went so far as to say everyone in Washington is a traitor except for Tancredo and he should be appointed "President for life". (I won't name him as I do not ping people to threads without permission but he has an @ in his name.) And of course in their mind if one does not worship Tancredo, then one supports illegal immigration.
I guess that means all the Trancredoites are for very strict gun control and restrictions on the 2nd Amendment just like Tancredo is.
Now lets see how long before the chief e-thug and stalker will show up and post his stupid pictures to me as well as his cheap threats like he does everytime I diss his god.

Pat Buchanan's wife runs Tancredo's PAC. Buchanan and Tancredo are joined at the hip. It is impossible to distingish one from the other.

He is the Jesse Jackson of the right. You don't think you're just looking at the image that the media have created for him? I heard his comment about Mecca, and it was hardly an unequivocal call for retaliation. He wasn't saying it should be done in response to any old attack, but only to something on the order of a nuking of one of our cities. And even then, it was only a suggestion that he brought to the table. Morally, it's no different from the "mutual-assured destruction" policy that we maintained during the Cold War.
If you actually listen to him talk, he speaks in calm, measured, rational terms. Nothing at all like Jesse Jackson.
