Democrats - Detroit
Republicans - Miami or Atlanta

In my humble opinion, the site must be on the east coast time zone so it can be wrapped up each night by 11 p.m.

It'd be more fun if the Republicans held it there.

Yeah... and I hear Tampa is vying for the GOP. But it doesn't seem as if anything is concrete yet. I was just wondering if there was a website I was missing.

Democrats have selected the dates: Aug. 25 - 28, 2008 but haven't chosen the city. Will select after the 2006 general election...

The GOP hasn't made any selections of dates or cities as of yet.

No chance it would ever be held in Las Vegas?

Time zone considerations, plus Vegas is too controversial.

As I recall, LA was the site for the 2000 Dem convention. The LA center is certainly desirable as it is much larger than other venues.

The sched certainly would have to be worked so that the main speaker is done by 11:00 pm. However, this would simply mean that the out-of-town convention attendees would be done by 8:00 pm and would have to find a way to amuse themselves for the balance of the evening ("Uh, where is the Kennedy party?").

I heard somewhere that Anaheim was vying strongly for either convention, but I'm not sure.
