Bush visit [Tucson] highlights GOP rifts on border

Guest-worker plan to top Monday agenda

Hoping to straddle a fracture in the Republican Party, President Bush is due in Tucson on Monday to promote his border and immigration policies.

The 2:40 p.m. speech at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base is the president's only scheduled stop here.

Attorney General Alberto Gonzales and Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff are expected to appear with the president at D-M.

With the backing of businesses who need foreign employees, Bush is pushing a guest-worker program that would let undocumented workers obtain three-year work visas. Workers could extend that for another three years, but would then have to return to their home countries for a year to apply for a new work permit.

"Our Border Patrol and immigration agents are doing a fine job, but we still have a problem," Bush said in his Oct. 22 radio address.

"If an employer has a job that no American is willing to take, we need to find a way to fill that demand by matching willing employers with willing workers from foreign countries on a temporary and legal basis."

The proposal has alienated many conservative Republicans who feel it gives amnesty to people who have entered the country illegally.

There are an estimated 11 million illegal immigrants living in the United States.

Competing guest-worker proposals have been introduced in Congress, which is expected to take up the contentious issue early next year:

- Sens. John McCain, R-Ariz., and Edward Kennedy, D-Mass., support legislation that would allow illegal border crossers to work in the United States for up to six years.

- Sens. Jon Kyl, R-Ariz., and John Cornyn, R-Texas, are backing a plan that would force undocumented workers to first return to their home country to apply for a guest worker permit.

- Sen. Chuck Hagel, R-Neb., wants to grant legal status to undocumented workers who have paid taxes and lived in the United States for five years if they pass security checks, pay a $2,000 fine and demonstrate English proficiency.

Rank-and-file Republicans may be less divided on the immigration issue than GOP politicians in Washington, D.C.

An October poll of 807 likely Republican voters found 72 percent supported a plan with increased border security, tougher penalties on employers who hire illegal workers and a temporary worker program in which applicants could gain citizenship if they live crime-free, learn English and pay taxes. GOP pollster Ed Goeas conducted the national survey.

Bush signed a spending bill for Homeland Security last month that includes funding for 1,000 new Border Patrol agents and a 10 percent increase in the holding capacity of detention facilities for border crossers.

Earlier this month, Chertoff unveiled Homeland Security's Secure Border Initiative, which will add 100 deportation officers, 250 criminal investigators and 400 immigration enforcement agents to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

The initiative also seeks to eliminate the department's policy of releasing border crossers with a promise to appear in court. Most of these entrants never show up for hearings under the so-called "catch and release" policy.

Tune in to see Bush on TV

-Tucsonans who want to see President Bush during his visit to town Monday will have to turn on their televisions.

Bush's speech at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base will not be open to the public.

"He's not leaving the base, so nothing will be affected as far as road closures," said Officer Lisa Peasley, a Tucson Police Department spokeswoman.

KVOA-TV Channel 4 and KGUN-TV Channel 9 plan to carry Bush's 2:40 p.m. speech live.

I believe there's a few 'mistakes in the article. For the sake of clarity, I'll correct them (excuse the small font, don't want to eat up space)

Amnesty plan to top Monday agenda

Ignoring the fracture in the Republican Party, President Bush is due in Tucson on Monday to promote his Amnesty policies.

Afraid to be around the public the president's only scheduled stop will be at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base.

The pro illegal alien Attorney General Alberto Gonzales and the sock puppet Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff are expected to appear with the president at D-M.

With the backing of Unamerican businesses who like screwing U.S. citizens, Bush is pushing an Amnesty program that would reward criminals for ignoring U.S laws and let these ILLEGAL ALIENS have the run of the USA. In theory, these criminals would then have to return to their home countries for a year to apply for a new so-called work permit. However, since they ignore all U.S. laws to begin with, this is an utter fallacy.

"Our Border Patrol and immigration agents would be doing a fine job if I really cared and hired the 20,000 additional agents Congress authorized, but see, I don't really give a crap" Bush said in his Oct. 22 radio address.

"If an employer has a job that no American is willing to take - which is utter tripe, but I think you dummies are mostly buying that line, we should find a way to fill that demand by matching willing employers with willing workers from America. However, I owe Vicente Fox a BIG favor and I intend to repay it. So screw you America.

The proposal has alienated many Americans who feel giving amnesty to people who have entered the country illegally is dereliction of duty and borders on treason..

There are currently an estimated 15 million illegal immigrants living in the United States off the U.S. taxpayers and that number grows daily.

Competing AMNESTY proposals have been introduced in Congress. Some of these abominations are:

  • Sens. John McCain, R-Ariz., and Edward Kennedy, D-Mass., support legislation that would allow Illegal ALIENS to stay in the United States forever.
  • Sens. Jon Kyl, R-Ariz., and John Cornyn, R-Texas, are backing a plan that would force these criminal ILLEGAL Aliens to first return to their home country to apply for a guest worker permit. But gain, since these people ignore all laws anyway, this too is a pipe dream.
  • Sen. Chuck Hagel, R-Neb., wants to grant legal status to Illegal Aliens who have lived off taxes paid by Americans, and successfully hid out from the law for five years, pay a $2,000 fine - borrowed from the U.S. Treasury, aka us and demonstrate English proficiency when inquiring where the local welfare office is.

Bush signed a useless, 'feel good' bill last month that includes funding for 1,000 new Border Patrol agents and a 10 percent increase in the holding capacity of detention facilities for the criminal illegal aliens.

However ignoring that bill, Chertoff will ONLY add 100 deportation officers, 250 criminal investigators and 400 immigration enforcement agents to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. However they will be tasked at rounding up 25,000 Illegal Alien Irish nannies.

The initiative also seeks to eliminate the department's policy of releasing Illegal Aliens with a promise to appear in court. From now on they will just ignore the illegals entirely.

Ahhh, that's better - and more truthful.

BTW, I have feeling that Monday afternoon the WH phone, fax and email is going to be overloaded. And not with, "good going Mr President".

Here is something you might like. The new gym or rpac will cost all students about $76 per quarter or about $230 dollars per academic year regardless of whether you use the gym or not.

Even better: My wife went to Quinnipiac College in Hamden, CT. They made her take a "computer class" for $200 just to teach them how to navigate Word and Excel. It was to pay for the new computer center but a lot of the dummies thought it was worth the money.

It is a state project and therefore governed by the prevailing (very high, artificially high) wage law.

It was almost certainly not immigrant labor since the wages were mandated to be high.

That really doesn't mean what you think it does. My next door neighboor has an alarm business. When he put a system in the high school, they made him pay prevailing wage but they imposed no rules on who he could hire. In fact, according to him, he could have hired bums/illegals and on paper paid them the prevailing wage and pocketed the difference. He didn't but could have.

What market manipulation, it's actually called letting the invisible hand of the market work it's magic.

Gee...when a company doesn't have ANY negative market forces working on it to push wages up...just how is having "slave labor" that artificially depresses wages the "invisible hand" working? It's more of a backhand to American Workers...but you do love you some cheap lettuce, right?

Oh, and just which jobs are THESE clowns doing that "Americans won't do anymore"? Oh, and what "invisible hand" is helping them?

YOU and your failed policies have allowed our mortal enemies to use our own economy and laws against us...but at least your toilet is scrubbed...right? Isn't THAT more important?

Oh, I can't wait to see what straw-man you will throw up here....

I'll never understand your alls hatred at small businesses that produce good products and services.

Busineesses enjoy extra profits from illegal labor but impose costs, both financial and otherwise, on everyone else.

(1) Illegals cost taxpayers in government expenditure far in excess of any taxes they generate.

(2) Illegals businesses hire have children who become American citizens and change the Nation's demographic destiny.

(3) Once the illegal that businesses hire ages beyond the capacity to perform manual labor he becomes a burden on the taxpayer and society, because he will not return to Mexico. The employer who profited shunts that cost onto society.

(4) The FBI conveniently doesn't compile crime statistics on perpetrators that identify hispanics or illegals. Instead they are classified as "white". We don't know how much crime they commit. However, there is no particular scarcity of illegals in prisons, suggesting that the illegals are responsible for more than their share of crime.

So, these are just a few of the many reasons that we all object to the employment of illegals. Now do you understand, Dane?

"I'm a timber producer. There's two Michigans, one above and one below the bridge. The U.P. and down under. You come up here you act respectful. This isnt a once a year playground for you to raise hell, party and dump all over and leave. "

But you have no problem with ILLEGAL ALIENS being exactly what you are decrying in your home state. Rings kind of hollow.

I understand completely, you are not for cutting welfare benfits which started this whole mess and wish to have your animus thrown on those evil businesses.

Sheesh that could have come from hillary's mouth.

"The ONLY plan that has possibilities."

What makes you think that the ILLEGALS will pay a $2000 fee and meekly return to Mexico just to sign up for a program that will require them to leave after three years? I bet they will just continue to remain part of the underground economy rather than return to Mexico.

What a chickesh*t! He'll fly into an Air Force base, not leave it, and then talk about illegals in a state that is being destroyed by them.

He'll also be talking to a captive audience who won't ask any embarassing questions!

BTTT from invaded California!

What's so bravo about it. Clinton met with arafart also and that little picture of a tiny demonstration of la raza.

So...let me get this straight...since Clinton met with Arafag (and kept him waiting in the Rose Garden while he was getting a Monica Hummer...) that means that Arafag is somehow a "Good Guy"? I guess this means that if Tancredo is the (R) Presidential Candidate, you'll be voting Hillary...since her policies are more in line with you and your OBL ilk's!

Oh, and you DID notice the date of the photo...1980. Hmm...so this was NOT LONG after Arafag had the US Ambassador killed, and was behind the Masacre at Munich! But I guess since he's with your buds at La Raza/MeCHa that's cool, right? Probably was some conference on cheap lettuce/clean toilets...

No, it was more likely that La Raza/MeCHa were solidifying their TERRORIST contacts before expanding their operations and takeover plans...supported by OBL MORONS like you and your ilk!

You guys are la raza's best friends with all the free publicity you give them.

You would LOVE to bully everyone into not looking at the Elephant Crapping in the center of the room by crying "Racist" and professing your love and admiration of the "lettuce picker"!

And you OBL MORONS want to hide the fact that you support Criminals and Criminmal Enterprises like Criminal Tresspass, drug dealing/smuggling, weapons smuggling, murder, rape, TERRORISM...all becasue you love that cheap lettuce!

Game...set...match Dane. Your witless prattling has been shown to be without merit OR basis. You and your ilk are nothing but gutless traitors undermining the US economy and the States abilities to combat crime and terrorism and reduce the unbearable tax-burden that American CITIZENS are FORCED to bear due to OBL MORONS that are more concerned about THEIR money in THEIR pocket than the rest of us!

An MBA from Harvard is a "rubber stamp" degree?

For some people it is.

Do you live on the same planet as the rest of us?

Yep, I'm afraid so.
I figure it must be punishment for something I did in a previous life.
