What if this were true about Buses as well?
Gee wonder how many linkage bus routes we could of bought for a $ 1 billion instead of a rail line that ONLY goes from point a to b and back?
Given A is the MOA (ample space to park) and B is downtown (with little space to park) I guess I think I might still pay the full rate for a ride rather than the 10-20$ an *HOUR* at some places to get covered parking downtown during the day.
Just don't point out that it does NOTHING for congestion NOTHING for urban renewal and NOTHING for pollution.
Really I guess you have not driven out of downtown before and after the rail from a twins game have you? I guess 10 Million (paid) on a single shot line is worse for congestion than fifty buses right?
I am saying this as someone who has seen light rail done very wrong: Minnesota has it right..
They admittedly DID NOT count "paid" receipts to arrive at that number. It was a number extrapolated from viewing riders getting on at one busy stop, and multiplying times the number of trains/trips.
This fact has been "outed" and discussed frequently on many TC radio programs. The "train people" have publicly admitted this.
