I KNEW THAT STUFF WE GOT IN ROSWELL WOULD COME IN HANDY. HATS OFF TO THE SCIENTISTS AT AREA 51.
On September 25, 2005, in a startling speech at the University of Toronto that caught the attention of mainstream newspapers and magazines, Paul Hellyer, Canadas Defence Minister from 1963-67 under Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Prime Minister Lester Pearson, publicly stated: "UFOs, are as real as the airplanes that fly over your head."
Mr. Hellyer went on to say, "I'm so concerned about what the consequences might be of starting an intergalactic war, that I just think I had to say something." Hellyer revealed, "The secrecy involved in all matters pertaining to the Roswell incident was unparalled. The classification was, from the outset, above top secret, so the vast majority of U.S. officials and politicians, let alone a mere allied minister of defence, were never in-the-loop." Hellyer warned, "The United States military are preparing weapons which could be used against the aliens, and they could get us into an intergalactic war without us ever having any warning. He stated, "The Bush administration has finally agreed to let the military build a forward base on the moon, which will put them in a better position to keep track of the goings and comings of the visitors from space, and to shoot at them, if they so decide."
It would seem that cigarette smoking man has been very busy lately. Somebody call agents Mulder and Scully.
Now where did I put my Phaser.
Better catch up on your EXOPOLITICS.

This is true.
Bush is planning to build a moon base. He will shoot at the LGMs, and then duck.
Inevitably, Canada will catch the return fire from the aliens. Such is life, north of the Border.

I enjoy an old kook fanning a good UFO controversy, but his reference to an "intergalactic" war shows he lacks even a rudimentary understanding of the universe. The galaxies are so far apart as to make any trip much less a war highly unlikely. Any alien visitors are far more likely to be from our own galaxy. So his ignorance loses me right there.
And if he thinks we can build anything likely to be a threat to a civilization that can travel from another star system, much less another galaxy, we definitely do not have a shortage of good engineers. Why, however, are we merely planning a base on the moon, when we should be capable of launching an attack on Vega?

I find that searching for the first word in the title works pretty well. Now when I posted this, I found that two others had posted it and had their post removed. Mine stayed. Such is the power of being a monthly donor! ;-)

The current Liberal government will probably fall Monday and new elections will have to be called. I can tell because the major newspapers are already in pre-election do-everything-to-help-the-Liberals-win mode.
