I once read that Bush Sr. picked Powell over something like 3000 higher rated personnel for Chairman of the Joint Chiefs (It might have been 300 but I think 3000 is right).

Bush Jr. is now reaping what Bush Sr. has sown in the name of PC.

Bush 1 and Bush 2 both gave Colin Powell his 'claim to fame', and it now appears to have been a mistake. Powell could have disagreed and kept his mouth shut, but he chose to attempt to make the administration look bad. Again, he failed...he made himself look inept and ungrateful for the position he now enjoys!

I don't think we have 300 4 star generals out there, even back then. My guess is it was 3 or 30...probably 3....First of all you have to be a 4 star. Secondly, you have to be the chairman of your service and then finally you have to be selected as chairman of the joint chiefs (Army Marines USAF and Navy). 3000 and 300 are way too high. I think 30 is probably too high as well......

Bush Jr. is NOT "reaping what Bush Sr. has sown". Bush Jr. is reaping what he himself has sown. Nobody forced Bush Jr. to pick Powell as his Secy of State. If Powell didn't have the Department of State in his resume, he'd be just another retired general & nobody would be headlining his views.
