Give the size of the galaxy, I think an intragalactic war is more likely. Good to know our neighbors to the north are worried about important things.

Funny. I just had this story pulled as a duplicate...even though it didn't show up during searches for it.

Hellyer warned, "The United States military are preparing weapons which could be used against the aliens, and they could get us into an intergalactic war without us ever having any warning. He stated, "The Bush administration has finally agreed to let the military build a forward base on the moon, which will put them in a better position to keep track of the goings and comings of the visitors from space, and to shoot at them, if they so decide."
He has just jumped into the loony bin.. how many tens of thousands of people would have to be involved in a project such as this? How do you keep something like that under wrap.. nope, tin foil hat alert here!

I wonder if the military acumen of the former defense minister is the reason the Canadian Navy can't even sail subs from Britain to Canada without suffering defeat.

Well, I guess this guy explains why Canada doesn't want to buy into the US missle defense system. Apparently, if we build such a system, it will just provoke the extra-terrestrials and bring Canada into an intergalactic war they know they cannot win. Once again, Canada knows how to better protect the continent. They should feel pretty good about themselves after this one...

Somehow, someway, I knew that this story would find a way to blame something on Bush. Canada just wants us to close down the NORAD! Maybe, they don't like us telling children we track Santa, and have hourly updates on Santa sightings on Christmas eve.

"Rest assured, Stargate Command is deeply appreciative of the level of support which the Bush Administration has shown towards the program."
Gotta love the assumption of "ethical" aliens, though. If they share the same ethics as this guy, then they'd also be against weapons in space. In which case, we really got nothing to worry about. For all we know, though, the ethics of the supposed aliens may be more in line with the ethics of THIS guy...
Either way, this guys whole line of reasoning is stupid. "We don't want the Americans to be shooting at the peaceful, kind, fluffy, and ethical aliens, even though 'ethical' aliens wouldn't really give them a reason to shoot at them, because then it might cause those self-same ethical aliens to turn their planet-destroying weaponry on a species vastly inferior technologically to them". Yeah, REAL ethical.
