Unfortunately, just like CIA and State, DoD is filled with bureaucrats who may not necessarily be loyal to this White House...so, when the facts point, inconveniently, to Bubba Klinton and other Dem buffoons, the stonewalling begins. Plus, the President has allowed the "why can't we all get along" mentality that keeps Mineta in DoT, to creep into the Pentagon...
It makes me sick to think about the CYA mentality in the DOD and the other government agencies. It seems the safety of all of us is secondary to covering up their own incompetence
I don't buy that "liberals in the Pentagon" bit. If Rumsfeld wanted this taken care of he could order a report be placed on his desk in ten days and the bureaucracy would have to snap-to, or else. So why hasn't he taken the lead. I would suggest that the fault lies with the White House and President Bush himself who, for whatever reason, does not wish to publicly shake up the Pentagon, any more than he does the CIA, the DIA or the State Department.

This is a real problem, I wish Bush could see he gains nothing from delaying the weeding of the gov't garden! Didn't Clinton fire ALL the U.S. Attorney's (district attorneys?) in an un-precidented move upon taking office... setting up his op from day one?
