That is why, without the prospect of military success or any alternative to democracy to offer the Iraqi people, who will soon once again risk their lives to march to the polls, Zarqawi and his ilk focus on headline-grabbing car bombs and mounting American casualties as their only hope.
As Zawahiri wrote, "The aftermath of American power in Vietnam and how they ran and left their agents is noteworthy."
Jim, here's the thread with the transcript of Sam Johnson's speech.
Hey Jim Rob, I talked to some vets at Golden Corral the other day who told me that the biggest enemy for our soldiers on the battlefield today is not Al Queda, but an MSM journalist dying for the chance to disrespect our troops and their mission.
I think the idea of a telivised war, with imbedded journalists is counter to military operations and a hinderance to the success of their mission. Get the journalists out. Let the military feed the journalists information as they did in WWII. They only get in the way and report a very biase opinion instead of fact.
As misinformed and misguided as the Vietnam protestors were, they weren't objecting to the war just to get their party back in power. And that fact exposes the malevolence of today's liberals.
About which I would like to know a lot more than I saw in this article.
I wrote on the live thread last Friday that this man brought me to tears and even though this must have been his last "hurrah", he is ONE AWESOME DUDE!
Love them Texans!
i was lucky enough to see the entire debate last friday.
congressman johnson just blew murtha away.
i e-mailed him and jean schmidt for standing up and being counted.
i also love j.d. hayworth, he has national potential IMHO
Also remember what bin Laden said some years back, referring to Clinton's abandonment of our troops murdered in Somalia.
He referred to America as a paper tiger that would turn tail when bloodied.
This is what they were counting on when they flew the planes into the twin towers.
Maybe this is what Esquire meant when they called Bill Clinton the "world's most influential man".
It's like deja vu all over again.
As I stated on another thread:
----This transcript should be broadcast to all our service members, overseas and here in the States.
Then watch them puff up their chests as they put on their body armor in 100 degree heat, looking for the next woman, child, or beggar that has bombs strapped to their bodies waiting to kill anyone that happens along.
Win this ugly war guys, and come home heroes!
------
I just received that issue and am still inclined to burn it as soon as I get home. The picture of him on the cover makes me want to puke, all over again.
I have been wondering the same thing myself.
Legacy media is longing for the glory-days of the Vietnam War, when they actually helped defeat men like Murtha and Johnson.
I think there has been a "Vietnamization" of this war from the minute that Teddy Kennedy first used the word quagmire.
Wasn't that a couple weeks after we landed in Afghanistan??
He and Kerry and Harkin and others are OLD hands at helping the country lose wars...
I also believe that I read that Murtha was instrumental in our premature flight out of Somalia.
Sam Johnson is a wonderful man.

p.s. Have a happy Thanksgiving folks! And, by the way... Texas A&M Aggies... BTHO tu on T+1
"They only get in the way and report a very biase opinion instead of fact."
Unfortunately, in order to counter the spin of the MSM - the reporting would need to be very selective - We are fighting the war on two fronts - over there, and over here with the democrats and the MSM.
I tend to disagree with that. We could let the media know of the successes and the failures. It is necessary for the public to know both, IMO. Because from failure comes experience. We know that from dealing with IEDs in Iraq. The way the patrols are much more observant, and the demolition teams much more cautious. The number of US soldiers dying and being injured in Iraq is being reduced drastically because we are adjusting our battle plan every day. No, we don't just feed the press the good stuff. We give them what is relevant and necessary.
If it is discovered that an American journalist is cohorting with the enemy to get a story, he or she should be tried for treason just like any other American would for doing such a thing. John Kerry is lucky he was never court martialed for cohorting with the NVA and VietCong leaders in Paris. He still should be. Same with Hanoi Jane.
Our press is an inportant tool to keep the public informed, but they are not so important that they should be given free reign in the area of operations.
Thank you for a lot of things, but I have to say special thanks for this post. Sam Johnsons clear message should be taught in schools across the country. There is no rebutial.
I Emailed it .
to my kids and grandcritters and, believe me, it will be talked about tomorrow as we give thanks to GOD, our President, and our amazing, brave troops
GOD bless you sir, and your family, and Mr. Robinson, have a wonderful Thanksgiving
