AL Franken found out the hard way not to mess with U.S. Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, who chided Franken as if he were a delinquent schoolboy at Time Warner Center on Monday night
When Pearlstine opened the floor for Q&A, Franken stood up in the back row and started talking about "judicial demeanor" and asking "hypothetically" about whether a judge should recuse himself if he had gone duck-hunting or flown in a private jet with a party in a case before his court.
Franken was clumsily referring to the fact that Scalia had gone hunting and flying with Dick Cheney before the 2000 election.
First, Scalia lectured Franken, "Demeanor is the wrong word. You mean ethics." Then he explained, "Ethics is governed by tradition. It has never been the case where you recuse because of friendship."
Time Warner chairman Dick Parsons later told PAGE SIX: "Al was not quite ready for prime time." Franken was a "Not Ready for Prime Time Player" on "Saturday Night Live" long before he began hosting a radio show on Air America.

As a Minnesotan, I'd appreciate a guarantee on that. It's hard to explain some of the people we've voted for, with prime examples being Mark Dayton, Paul Wellstone and Jessie Ventura.
Only if there is no God.
"All your...." got tiresome a LONG LONG time before it became unfashionable.
Pwned is the word I thought of too. Same as when Cheney rhetorically slapped the crap out of John "Silky Pony" Edwards.
There are people who simply shouldn't take on intelligent types (like Henry Kissenger, Bill Gates, etc). Al Franken is certainly not alone...I'd put idiots like Howard Stern in that group as well. Al is strictly a comedian who has attempted to become a politican commentator, and probably needs another 20 years to reach a successful point (if they allow his show to continue for that long). Al has serious problems in comprehending financial news, anything on middle eastern conflicts, and especially US agriculture markets.

Teresa: Bag Hag
November 23, 2005
THE salesgirls at Hermes found out what a pain Teresa Heinz Kerry can be. According to our spy, "Teresa had the bag department cornered. She was mak ing the poor girls bring her every bag. Every time another customer wanted to see a bag, she had to see it first. They were harried by her demands." When our operative asked to see a bag, one salesgirl told her, "Please. Go to the second floor."
