American Engagement [in Bosnia]
Wall St Journal ^ | 11-23-05 | BILL CLINTON

Posted on 11/23/2005 7:06:38 AM PST by SJackson

Ten years ago, at the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base outside Dayton, Ohio, the leaders who had waged a brutal four-year war in Bosnia -- at the center of a volatile region that had launched two world wars -- finally agreed to peace. They took this momentous step only after intense international military and diplomatic pressure led by the United States. At the time, almost everyone predicted that the Dayton Peace Agreement would fail.

To enforce the agreement, I sent 20,000 U.S. soldiers to Bosnia as part of a 60,000-troop NATO peacekeeping force, because it was the only way to ensure that the Dayton Agreement was more than words on a page. For three winters, the people of Sarajevo had inspired us all with their courage in the face of snipers, hunger and bitter cold. After the genocide of 1995, when more than 7,000 men were murdered in Srebrenica, it was clear that only NATO under America's leadership could ensure peace.

Still, a large majority of the American public opposed my decision. Some expected heavy casualties; some feared another round of war, with Bosnia split in two and the need for our troops never-ending. On the day before the Dayton Agreement was to take effect, the House of Representatives voted three-to-one against an American troop deployment to Bosnia. Despite this opposition, I felt the United States had to act in order to stop the atrocities and try to bring peace and stability to the region.

"And, in the end, we managed to set up more islamic terrorist training camps than there were before the war..."

More, "it's all about me", but the funny part is this:

Still, a large majority of the American public opposed my decision.

If a large majority of the American public opposed him, then by MSM logic he should never have sent the troops in.

I'd be a lot more angry if it wasn't so funny seeing the eurotrash who love all things Clinton being burned down by the insurgents that they protected from the Serbs.

As Islam conquers Euroweenia, they still cheer for the traitor who opened the gates to the ravening hordes.

Absolutely. U.S. actions regarding both Bosnia and Kosovo did nothing but enhance the power of mohammedan terrorists. And very soon both places will be awash in infidel blood.

Thanks for intervening in Bosnia, where there was no threat to us, and doing nothing about North Korea, Iran, Iraq, or Al Qaeda.

Unfortunately it's a paysite. You could try www.bugmenot.com, they might have a password, otherwise there's only the paper edition.

Kosovo? The biggest fraud ever pulled on America, and it took the Clinton's Democrats to do it.

Sad to say, they are worst today.

The Serbs WERE the insurgents in Bosnia-Herzegovina. Or at least the Belgrade government, in a standard Communist fashion, tried to disguise its war of conquest and extermination against a neighboring state as a local insurrection.

"...Bosnia -- at the center of a volatile region that had launched two world wars"

WWI is one. What was the 2nd world war launched from this region? Did I miss something in history class?

Yugoslavia was one country until the euro-weenies decided to encourage a civil war.. divide and conquer and get ALL the goodies that belonged to Yugoslavia and her people.

You know just a few of the many assets the euro-weenies wanted: silver, coal, lead and other types of valuable minerals, sea coast resorts in Croatia and Montenegro, orchards and vineyards in Kosovo, vast forests of hardwood trees in Bosnia and Croatia and last but not least.... A POPULATION so financially ruined and deparate, they would work for peanuts for euro-weenie companies.

Plus, the poor residents of what was Yugoslavia would BEG the euro-weenies to rule over them from the EU seat of power in that jackass country of Belgium.

And what does uncle Sam get for all his efforts... bill clinton gets to play his lying, fornicating self as a hero.

YUK!

I was going to pose the same question...you just beat me to it. I thought WWII (officially) started when Hitler invaded Poland on Sept. 1, 1939.

Yes, a fraud and one which has caused untold sorrow for the Serbian and other non-albanian population of Kosovo.

But you see don't you... just like with President Bush, the SERBIAN people cause all the problems of the world. I am surprised that clinton did not try to blame WWII on a yet unborn George Bush!

"I thought WWII (officially) started when Hitler invaded Poland on Sept. 1, 1939."

Phew! For a minute there I thought I missed something. I guess ol' Bill's speech writers need to take a refresher course in world history.

Time to write the editor of said newspaper/journal... sigh.

One would hope that clinton was NOT stupid enough to make a comment like that.

He should have asked his "smart"(a$$) wife to edit for him.

["I am surprised that clinton did not try to blame WWII on a yet unborn George Bush!"]

Well, give him (Clinton) some time. I'm sure he'll think of a way to do something along the lines that you describe as the Nov. 2006 elections approach next year.
