Recent polls among American readers (and viewers) of the press continue to show a reluctance to trust the once vaunted U.S. mainstream media. And the recent brouhaha at the New York Times over the Judith Miller fiasco only further muddies the public's trust, not only on how reporters and editors report but also on what they choose to publish (or broadcast).
For example, there have been whole forests cut down to provide enough paper for stories about Rep. Tom DeLay, the Texas Republican indicted recently on allegations of money laundering through state political action committees that helped the GOP secure a majority of U.S. congressional seats from the Lone Star state.
SNIP
Consider the contrasting coverage of DeLay with that of Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton. Virtually every detail of alleged DeLay transgressions gets reported and in very great detail. But scant coverage has been given to equally serious allegations against the junior senator from New York.
There have been no front-page stories in the New York Times, the Washington Post, the Chicago Tribune, the Los Angeles Times, Miami Herald or any other so-called major daily with respect to serious allegations of wrongdoing on the part of Hillary Clinton and her Senate election campaign committee.
While tens of thousands of inches (and scores of hours on broadcast and cable TV) have been used up to discuss allegations that DeLay "laundered" about $190,000 from corporate donors in Texas through the Republican National Committee and then back to GOP candidates in Texas races, there's been virtually nothing mentioned about accusations that Hillary Clinton and senior Democrats "laundered" nearly $2 million of improper or illegal gift-giving during the summer of 2000 when she began her run for the Senate.

:-) Good morning, Bahbah!
I wonder if the only thing that could backfire on a Clinton is for either one to have joined the NRA.
I hope you'll excuse me if I don't hold my breath...
Hillary and her flying monkeys will escape, and nobody outside of those who are active on the Internet will know. The only reason that the TANG/60 Minutes scandal really made waves wasn't because of those of us on the Internet. It was because 60 Minutes, and CBS News were seen as ripe targets by their competition. So, it was in the best interest of the other major media to cover it. I don't think that anyone in the MSM would have imagined that the story would end with Rather being ousted: More likely, just a bit of egg on his face, to knock him down a rung or two.
In the case of Hillary, the media isn't about to go against her. While I wouldn't say that she's a darling of the media, they don't have the sort of animosity against her that they do against conservatives or republicans. They don't see it as a oportunity. Not like with DeLay.

The media are not going to get away with these dangerous games forever. If nothing else, eventually there will be acts of violence. Of course, I'm in no way advocating such.
I'm thinking that the Barrett report could be of help to us with regard to the Clintoons, which is why Dorgan is working so hard to keep the thing under wraps. I hope Tony is still working on this. I'm going to ping him. Mr. Snow, you are in our prayers.
It also has a lot to do with the overall charges against the Clintons to be so terrible as to appear outrageous, no matter how accurate.
She may not yet be done, but stick a fork in her anyway...
:-) Good thinking.
But I think that the vulnerability of the Clintons is most likely their own personality disorders. There's lots of room to get them to set themselves up for failure. They do horrible things but then pass it off as fanatics making things up.
This is why I stopped patronizing the Wash Post around 1996 or 1997, They can slant their fricking stories all they want, but the idea of simply refusing to print the news when it is unfavorable to their leftist views is unacceptable.
"...Hillary Clinton and senior Democrats "laundered" nearly $2 million of improper or illegal gift-giving during the summer of 2000 when she began her run for the Senate."
Two years remain in statute of limitations.
Great article. Unfortunately, nothing will come of it. The MSM will crucify any Republicans that have even a tiny shred of corruption but will NEVER ever publish the corruption and treasonous truth about the Clintons.
To borrow from an old cliche the only scandal that could nail HC is if she is found in bed with a dead man or a live girl.
What You Can Do (go to end of article)
Send the enclosed cards or cards and letters of your own choosing to Tim Russert and Robert McCormick of NBC News, and Senator Pat Roberts, chairman of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence.
Hillary always denies any knowledge or wrongdoing - that is her MO. The MSM and MSP have given the Clinton's a pass when there is a virtual library written about this pair of hustlers who have wrecked havoc with the 'rule of law' and Constitutional law. It would be of interest to know just how many law suites she is defending now. Mx. Clinton is just as slick as her husband, perhaps more so. Presently the impeached president has once again COMMITTTED sedition to audiences on foreign soil. He is a traitor to his country.
