U.S Military Leaders Optimistic on Iraq Troop Build-Up

WASHINGTON — While critics of the war in Iraq continue to assail the Bush administration and push to bring U.S. troops home, a top U.S. military official told FOX News on Tuesday that the training of Iraqi forces is going "extremely well" and could help pave the way for a pullout timetable.

Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Gen. Peter Pace outlined goals for U.S. forces six months from now on the same day that Iraqi leaders said their troops will be ready to take over in a year.

"Things have gone extremely well with regard to training the Iraqi armed forces and to getting that country up on its feet," Pace told FOX News in an exclusive interview. "There is absolutely no way that we can fail. The only way we can fail is if we lose our will or lose our patience."

Don't worry, the Democrats are ready to take credit when we withdraw.

"Don't worry, the Democrats are ready to take credit when we withdraw."

That's my thought too.

I think the Dems are aware of the numbers and when we actually begin pulling out they'll say that if it wasn't for them the evil Bush regime would've left are troops in to be occupiers and catalysts for violence.

Afghanistan and Iraq have been tremendous successes. The liberation of 2 nations in such a short period of time with so few casualties is astounding and is testimony to our military and executive leadership.
To put this achievement in perspective, we must recall that the Soviets broke their backs in Afghanistan right on their southern border. To be able to deploy on the other side of the world and to achieve victory so quickly is an historic wonder.

Exactly right Aussie, the US military is an amazing force, and incredibly under-appreciated and under-estimated. Remember how (the Left said) the snows and tribes in Afghanistan were going to eat our lunch? And how we would lose 10,000 troops just trying to enter Baghdad?

Don't forget the role of the Aussie SAS in paving the way for invasion. President Bush was brimming with praise.

Yanks and Aussies certainly are a great team together.

I salute that, the Aussies are our great allies, and brave fighters! We met an Aussie couple in Venice last year, and they were the favorite people we met on the entire trip.

You know, the sad part is that these shameless b&*$@rds will be ready to take credit for the victory when it comes. And watch the Lamestream Media revise history to call it a "bipartisan victory." I am feeling nauseous already.

"As the United States moves over to let Iraqis take the lead, senior U.S. commanders said 3,769 former officers of ousted Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein have applied to become officers in the new Army. Out of those, 2,662 have been accepted. Rice said the Iraqi government is also taking care to make sure the right individuals participate in Iraq's future."

Interesting. Good sign, hopefully. I hope they are coming in to help, not subvert.

They are probably not great officers, but still, they have experience, which is needed.

It looks like they are betting this government will survive, a good sign.

I am cautiously positive. However, we must monitor the situation. It is hard to believe some are not traitors. Care is required.

1. We haven't won yet. Things look good, but there are still obstacles. Notably, the Iraqi army is still slow to be operating independently, and this must be solved pretty quickly, in my opinion.

2. If we win, no way the Dems can steal credit, not even with the MSM lying like crazy. This is a Republican War, and everyone knows it. Don't feel sick: feel better.

Based on my reading of military history, I would say consensus opinion is that the Aussies are the best troops in the world on the offensive.

We are proud to have you with us and appreciate your steadfast support over the decades (Vietnam, etc.)

Plus, you are a really cool bunch of folks.

Rush, Sean, and the internet will debunk that MSM myth in short order.
