Student's killer gets 15 years
A 36-year-old asylum seeker from Somalia, who was found guilty of raping and murdering a female student at a college in Sogndal last year, was sentenced Friday to 15 years in prison.
Sogndal student Hedda Karterudseter was strangled last autumn.

Hassan Samriye Hashin had admitted the murder. An appeals court also found him guilty of raping 19-year-old Hedda Karterudseter at Sogndal Folkehøyskole on October 28, 2004.
Hashin had followed Karterudseter home to her student apartment and admitted strangling her in a fit of jealousy. He denied raping her.
He had been sentenced to 16 years in prison by a lower court, which also found him guilty of both murder and rape. The maximum prison term in Norway is 21 years.

If the murder and rape of a young girl only gets one fifteen years, what must one do to get the maximum of 21 years?

Ah, Kurt look at it this way. Better a hawk in the home than a suicide bomber on the loose.
And it may get cold there but Norwegians are not setting cars on fire to stay warm.

I live near a park, and have large windows in the front and back of my home. We get "bird hits" about 5-6 times a year. Fortunately for me, they are finches and swallows. The hawks around here don't come near the house.
I can imagine the mess that would make.

Yah, that was nasty stuff! You know; I'm a law student and 2 weeks ago I was on an excursion to the pathological institute of forensic medicine in Bergen, where I live, and I actually saw pictures from the crime scene of that murder! Horrible pictures.. one of the female students fainted and two others had to leave the room...

He DID?!? Wow, dude gets around....LOL
To: Kurt_Hectic
I have never had a bird break a window..but I have placed stunned birds through the years in a box, outside, to recover from their run in with the window at full speed..They recover and fly off. A hawk in the house would be a shocker!

The guy does that to a young girl after your country is kind enough to let him in to start a new life. Despicable!

the maximum sentance is reserved only for the most extreme crimes... yeah I know, it's lame... But we have a custody-arrangement that allow us to keep the worst ones locked up for ever ;)

I do freelance work for a company in Anaheim, CA. Sometimes I work at home, sometimes in their building. One day about a month ago I was at their place, at my drawing board in the design area. To my right were windows running about thirty feet along the length of the room. Suddenly there was a huge thud and the windows shook like an earthwuake had hit. I thought I had seen something move out of the corner of my eye, and when I went outside to investigate sure enough there was a dead pigeon who had found out the hard way how strong thick tempered glass can be.
What I don't understand is how the bird could have flown right into the side of a building. Assuming it could see though the glass, why would it want to fly into a huge dark shape that it would have to avoid anyway to continue on its path?
