We keep our house at 68 because that's the most comfortable temperature. 72 is like a sauna.
Must be our sturdy midwestern stock - we keep it at 68 for part of the day, but I programmed it drop to 65 during the majority of the day. I'm an at-home mom and I move around so much during the day that 68 gets too warm. At night it's programmed to drop to 62. A nice snuggly wool blanket does the trick!

Us, too. We bought a new furnace last year at cost from a HVAC friend (we fix his computer when needed) and have replaced eight of our windows in our 1906, drafty farmhouse. I have the attic windows covered in both plastic sheeting, and then a black wool blanket in the winters, and they have exhaust fans in them in the summer. I have three older windows to seal w/plastic yet, and our patio doors and an upstairs door that goes to nowhere is going to be insulated, too.
I rarely use my gas dryer and hang clothes to dry. I wash our clothing in cold, thought I do wash whites and rugs and dog blankets in warm w/ a cold rinse. My gas hot water heater is wrapped in an insulating blanket and an old sleeping bag, LOL! I have a dishwasher, but have never used it in 10 years.
We keep the house at 65 during the day and 60 at night. And I work at home, so I just keep moving at all times, LOL! Going into this heating season we had a $156.00 CREDIT on our gas bill, so conserving really does save you money. Personally? I don't care about saving natural resources; I care about MY bottom line.
I don't think Dimowits deserve the credit for "inventing" conserving energy, and this is nothing more than a play to Doyle's voting base. *Rolleyes*
