If the Sunni Leadership supports the war against America and they were elected by their own people then that means all Sunnis are the self declared enemy. BOMBS AWAY!!!

You are very mistaken. I am in Iraq, and work with the Special Police Commandos. In these groups are Sunni, Shia, Kurd, Turks. They hate this as much as anyone, and are trying to fix it. The issue is the lack of education. Most cannot read, so they rely on their religious leaders guidance. Yes, for the most part it is misled. It cannot be fixed over night.

Hopefully the next election the Sunni citizens will wise up and give their leaders, that continue to call for our destruction, the boot. I won't hold my breath but I do hold hope that even the uneducated can have some common sense.

Fox News is no different from the MSM in using standardized media-speak:

"U.S.-led forces" instead of (international) Coalition forces.

"condemned terrorism, but was a clear acknowledgment of the Sunni position that insurgents should not be labeled as terrorists if their operations do not target innocent civilians or institutions designed to provide for the welfare of Iraqi citizens."

Then the communique is nothing more than a joke. This gives them the right to use violence as a form of protest.

That describes the U.S. Military to a "T".

Is that your "My Page?" How cool is that!

I ONLY listen to military sources to find out what's going on in Iraq.......or others who are in the country.

Can you tell me the general area where you are?

My son was at Camp Victory at the very beginning of the war (got some GREAT photos of Saddam's bombed out palace there), and then moved to Logbase Seitz, and drove escort patrols all over the Sunni Triangle.

Every Iraqi he met was glad we were there. Every one.

I am at FOB Falcon, for the time being. Our missio, has been a blessing for me. I am seeing and assisting directly with taking them off of the street. We are specifically a Strike/ Raid team, and train the Commandos who we are assigned.

It is not so much a question of which is more important, the definition of resistance or that of terrorism. The link in post #27 suggests that there is a lot of intentional ambiguity in the statements which are being written.

Note also Dan Darling's short take in which he quotes extensively from Tony Badran:

http://www.windsofchange.net/archives/007764.php

"The final compromise formula said that while 'resistance is a legal right for all peoples, however terrorism does not constitute legitimate resistance. As such, we condemn terrorism and the acts of violence and killing and kidnapping that target Iraqis and humane and civil institutions and the government and the national resources and religious places, and request they be fought immediately.'"

"In other words they've condemned everything that's been going on Iraq, without distinguishing one thing as terrorism and another as resistance. While the statement leaves out any reference to foreign troops, it also leaves out any reference to occupation, which in itself neutralizes the matter of legitimate resistance. The addition of the government and state institutions in there by default harken back to Malki's words that it is in fact the government that requested the foreign troops. Therefore, any attack on them is by default an attack on the government's authority."

The reporting, which he notes is "extremely disingenuous" is what is getting most people spun up.

Analysis: Conference talks first step

At first glance the conference appeared to be calling for the withdrawal of U.S.-led coalition forces. But there was broad agreement that the U.S. presence should end gradually as Iraq builds its own security forces to replace the foreign troops.

These are factional leaders. The elected gov't of Iraq would be the one to listen to.

Every Muslim country is a XXXXhole and this communique proves the essential DEPRAVITY of the people who produced it. They love 'resistance' killing our wonderful men and women, even though WE are the ones that deposed the most vicious dictator that country had known in modern times and gave them their democratic freedoms on a silver platter. That said, I still support what we are doing there as a matter of OUR interest to establish a less depraved government in that part of the world, it is good for US if/when we succeed to a sufficient degree, but the parties to this agreement are scum and there is no question that anyone who can label ANY of the psychotic killers, whether Sunni or Shit-ite, as legitimate 'resistance' is scum..........

And on that note, I shall ignore anything further that you say, as you have now sunk to new lows in slimy rhetoric, G. You'll regret it if you go any deeper into this pit, so I'll be careful not to lead you further into your sinful ways by responding in like kind.....

So if I offer you the same insult you just dished out to me, then:
  1. I'll regret it
  2. I'm sinful
  3. you won't respond in kind (for my sake) even though that is all that I did
Talk about dishing it out but can't take it!

I just didn't want you to go any farther, G.

I could tell you were heading down a dark path, and I was protecting you from yourself.

(Try to 'take' it from a 'manly' woman, OK? :)

You called yourSELF a dove, sir. A dove is not what I call a tough guy. Are you trying to have it both ways here? Or will you admit that you set yourself up for being called less than manly by your own admission of dovishness?

Well, now, to be fair, they may have taken their lead from us in not defining "terrorist". After all, the Patriot Act doesn't define what a terrorist is either, so that, down the road it can mean anything anyone wants it to mean....sort of like what happened with R.I.C.O. statutes. In any case, you really aren't in the proper spirit of nation-building. You sound like a Republican back during the days of Kosovo when it was a bad thing!
