Court documents released today show that an 18-year-old murder suspect confessed to Lancaster police to murdering his girlfriend's parents and also that she went willingly with him after the killing, saying she wanted to marry him and start a new life.

The revelations were contained in documents released to the media as part of court proceedings in the double murder trial of David Ludwig. In light of the new evidence, the kidnapping charge he had been facing has now been dropped.

This doesn't make sense. All she had to do was lie. With everything else she has done lately I doubt that would have been a hardship. This guy is taking her with him and amazingly, I think she's protecting him.

IMHO though too many posters are willing to give this girl a pass, 14 is old enough to know right from wrong and she should have to face the music for the murders.

Agreed...if she's guilty (and I suspect she was at least somewhat involved.) However, the exact nature of her involvement is not known to us now...

For me, it's not about giving her a pass. If she was involved in the murder of her parents she should be tried as an adult and punished accordingly. That said, I really hope this isn't true. I'll admit that. It's almost unimaginable to think of a child doing something like this.

Only a prosecuter that is worthless would allow these two cases to be linked. Nail him to the wall under the letter of the wall and deal with her likewise. In a separate trial. IN no way does her consent change his liability before the law. IT is kidnapping if a child leaves the guardianship of a parent without the parents consent. He killed them because they did not give their consent.

I have been waiting to hear he will be charged with statutory rape, haven't heard what the law is in PA.

They surely must have a law.

I feel very sorry for the other children. They have been robbed. What will their education be like, who will see to it they are well cared for? And, most of all, who will hug them everyday?

I haven't yet been able to feel anything for this 14 year old girl. Maybe there is such a thing as a bad seed.
I don't know how her siblings can stand the sight of her.

I am not a lawyer, but here's what I had found...

Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes
CRIMES AND OFFENSES (TITLE 18)
ARTICLE B. OFFENSES INVOLVING DANGER TO THE PERSON.
CHAPTER 31 - SEXUAL OFFENSES

§ 3122. Statutory rape (Repealed).

§ 3122.1. Statutory sexual assault.
Except as provided in section 3121 (relating to rape), a person commits a felony of the second degree when that person engages in sexual intercourse with a complainant under the age of 16 years and that person is four or more years older than the complainant and the complainant and the person are not married to each other.

Why didn't they just split instead of killing the parents? Surely they must have realized more people would be looking for murder suspects than runaway teenagers...

There was an interesting show that kind of dealt with this scenario about two or three weeks on the CBS show "Close to Home".
Bottom line was that the girl was the instigator of the murder of her parents. I have seen pictures of this girl and she looks 14 going on 30.
Will be interesting to see what this kid says when they get through questioning him about the girl.

This may let him off on the rape charge.
Not that it matters much. He will most likely spend the rest of his life in prison.
And may get death.

What a mess for the two young ones, anyway it goes, their lives are ruined. And the lives of the younger children have changed forever.

She really thought this guy could murder her parents, then they'd marry and live happily ever after? Can a person really be that stupid?

Luckily, the 2 oldest are grown. One son is just back from Iraq where he served. The other older son was living out of town somewhere, IIRC.

So they can probably help take on the burden of the 3 younger children, though we can hope this girl will get some sort of punishment for some time, so perhaps the older sons will only have the 2 youngest children to care for.

"so perhaps the older sons will only have the 2 youngest children to care for."

I pray they will. They looked like fine young men. I believe they were raised in a loving home.
Somehow parents love was not enough for Kara.
I believe she is as guilty as the boy.
She may not have used a gun, other than that she had to know what was happening.
Will be interesting to find what the cell calls reveal.

I hate to even start following this case. It's going to reveal more than I want to know about someone so young.
