Breaking on Bloomberg and Reuters. GM will cut 30,000 jobs in massive restructuring. More....
Sure.
"Lucerne" is Safeway's house brand of dairy products, if I remember correctly.
OH, so you never owned an AMC car? These were WAY worse than GM cars for lousy quality. I was spending $400-500 per month to keep mine on the road when I finally wised up and bought my first Toyota.
The way things are going many might not be able to live in America any more either.
"Let our Muslims burn the competitions cars?"
You know during the Intefadah in france I kept thinking, "who cares they are mostly Peugeots"
LOL
When companies lower headcount it is good for profits and helps the stock.
The unions contributed to the down fall of the US auto industry and now the chickens have come home to roost. If you ask for too much you will get nothing from GM. You need to peel back expectations. Plus why should union workers get pensions and not non-union workers?
The only free money I know of (free from taxes that is) is to short sell a stock then have the company go bankrupt. You get to keep the money and since you never close your position there is no cap gains.
"Letting an employee go out and buy a brand new "insert item here" knowing you are going to axe him in two weeks."
What if their mother made them do it? People have the personal responsibility to QUIT if they do not like their job. Plus who gave you the right to determine what is Christian and what is not? Got some pipeline to upstairs the rest of us do not"
Who said, "Judge not lest ye be judged."
The local US Rep (Tim Ryan)in the Youngstown OH. area wants the Govt to drop a few billion down this hole. Can't wait until he's on a local talk show fielding calls about it spouting the "if we can pour billions into Iraq we can bail out GM"
I'm going to ask him, why instead of just giving GM billions of dollars, doesn't the US govt just buy a couple of hundred of thousand cars from GM and give them to people receiving govt aid. Let's just have Washington buy all the Katrina evacuees new cars.
30,000 jobs is rounding error
"who cares they are mostly Peugeots"
LOL!!!
Hopefully they got plenty of those hideous Citroens too.
No, I think they will follow the german concept.
Many non-union places offer pensions. My brother in law gets one and he works for $7 an hour.
LEt me add to that. I just thought about my mother. She died in 1990 and had worked in a non union factory for 20 years. When she retired she was given a check for $37,000 that her employer had invested for her throughout her years of service. Instead of him taking all of the profit, he gave some to his loyal employees. Without them even knowing he was doing it. They don't make em like that anymore.
I own a 2001 Triple black vette. I love it.
Nice machine! Whoohoo!
That's what I was replying to.
My husband's situation is entirely different. When he came home from Viet Nam there was no work. He hired in to GM after several minimum wage jobs. Back then min wage was around $1.75 hr. After 30 years and multi injuries he has medically retired. So your advise to get a job at Wal Mart may work for some, but not us. But yes, my job I have in retail helps much. In fact...guess what!! It's WalMart!!!!!!! Guess you just never know who you're talking to on here.
