Never really thought we got him. My guess is he had his followers blow themselves up to give him more time to escape.

I don't understand - maybe someone can help me out - if they had solid intelligence that he was in this house, why didn't they set up a perimeter and capture him when he "escaped"?

Either the military is run by idiots or this is a bogus story. I have a feeling it's the latter.

"In Washington, a U.S. official said the identities of the terror suspects killed in the Saturday raid was unknown. Asked if they could include al-Zarqawi, the official replied: "There are efforts under way to determine if he was killed."

An anti-terrorist demonstration of such size is unprecedented in the Arab world, where Zarqawi, his mentor, Osama bin Laden, and their al Qaeda organization have attained folk-hero status among Muslim masses.

Hopefully two (2) dead folk-heros; mythical, useless and gone.

Not fair: it took years to capture Rudolph in our own country.

A baptism of repentance for the remission of sins.

Everytime he gets away like that the odds move againt him more and more. He cannot keep beating the odds. We just got a litttle closer.

I don't think it's a bogus story. And no, the military is not run by idiots. They know what they're doing. The chance that Zarqawi was in the house but escaped after our forces arrived is rather small. (Although there certainly is a chance there was an escape tunnel.) There's a much better chance that Zarqawi either hadn't yet arrived or more likely had already departed.

>>> al-Zarqawi was meeting with high-level Iraq in al-Qaida lieutenants

Interesting specimen of "news-ese" but I so prefer English.

All of the Washington press corps are working for Zarkawi.

I think the bombing in Jordan will be the beginning of the end for Al Zarquawi. He killed a slew of suslims during a wedding.

Most likely, they thought that Americans would be in the lobby of that building, but once the muslims got a taste of their own medicine, it did not taste too good.

I would bet that he is going to have a hard time hiding. Too many people over there want him dead now. Too many muslims.

Lets see - if his communications network has been compromised (we have Zarqueeri's laptop?), this could get really interesting.

The attendence at nutball conventions will be harder and harder to survive.

Ding Dong - Allah calling.

And if Al-Zarqawi is dead, so what? Another sheet-head will take his place. Our enemy is not one man. Our enemy is all of the Islamic world and the religion that holds it together.

Of course I do not mean every single muzlim is a part of the jihad. Like all masses the Islamic mass does nothing but dance in the street.

But we are indeed at war with the Islamic religion that holds muzlimania together world-wide.

Chalk it up to a poorly written story. It leaves the impression we had him by a thread and ended up with his shirt as he escaped.

True. But if they do get him before we do, at least we'll get the specatacle of dragging his rotting corpse thru the streets of Bagdhad. I don't have a problem with that.

And, imho, many democRats are aiding and abetting, as well. Zarkawi's got all the media and almost half of the American Senate and Congress rooting for him.

I admiyt I would have been disappointed if Zarqawi had just blown himself to bits. I would rather he be taken alive made to wallow in pig manure, sewn into a pig skin and crudely hanged with tapes of the event sent to Al Jazeera and posted on the Internet. Perhaps better yet left hand cuffed to a light pole just outside the bombed hotel in Jordan.

Don't know if they are informants, but they certainly are his biggest cheerleaders, other than Nancy Pelosi and this Murtha idiot.

It depends, though, on whether or not Zarqawi is the paranoid-type who only keeps weak yes-men around him, or if he's the type that would groom an equally vicious replacement in the event he would die or be captured.

As I understand it, he moves every 3-4 hours. You need pretty good intelligence and very fast troop movement to deal with that. He will slip up one day but it looks like that day is still ahead of us.
