At least one Arab television media outlet reported that Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, the head of the al-Qaida in Iraq, was killed in Iraq on Sunday afternoon when eight terrorists blew themselves up in the in the northern Iraqi city of Mosul.

The unconfirmed report claimed that the explosions occurred after coalition forces surrounded the house in which al-Zarqawi was hiding.

WASHINGTON, Nov 20 (Reuters) - U.S. authorities are looking into whether al Qaeda in Iraq leader Abu Musab al-Zarqawi was killed in a gunfight in the northern Iraqi city of Mosul, a U.S. official said on Sunday, but a White House spokesman said that was "highly unlikely."

I just dialed al-Zarqawi cell phone number and there was no answer. I went straight to his voice mail!!! Got to be a good sign.

They don't mean recently. They mean before the start of the war.

This is reminiscent of when US forces found Uday and Cusay and blew them to bits. They made us wait for conformation while they sewed their body parts together to proove to the world that they were dead.

Or maybe make Murtha mope and moan?

How could you tell? He appears to mope an moan when he's HAPPY. Of course, this news would make him happy because it would be proof possitive that we are losing. Zarqawi had to kill HIMSELF

I'll believe it when I see the official statement from U.S. Central Command. I'd love to see this be true, but Zarq has been "killed" or "captured" more times than you can shake a stick at.

In the aftermath of the repudiation of Zarqawi by his family it should now be easier for coalition forces to obtain DNA samples from Zarqawi's kin if coalition forces need to confirm the identity of a body. I would expect that to take a few days, maybe a week.

This would be deliciously ironic, if true. As a Christian, I shouldn't wish for harm to come to any human being, but I can't help but pray that al-Zarqawi has become the victim of his own evil.

At this moment, Katie Couric is praying that Zarkawi has safely escaped to Syria.

Nah, if they had that much left of him we would know by now.

Besides I want the president to fly to Iraq 2/3 days after the Iraqi election in December to force the media to make the election a week long story instead of a 2 day story like they made the Constitutional Referendum.

If true, the Democrats will be deeply saddened.

They are already deeply saddened.

I too am skeptical, but even if polecats have as many lives as regular house tabbies, this skunk had already used up about eight and a half of his nine.

That same thought crossed my mind, did hee became suicidal because his family denounced him?
(not to mention half the world is looking to kill him)

Zarco is a Palestinian of Jordanian birth. It probably has demoralized him a bit that the Jordanian street(which is comprised of over 75 percent Palestinians) and now his family has turned against him publicly. It isn't a good day for Zarco. I'd say it was a major tactical blunder for him to blow up those hotels in Amman and then threaten to kill King Abdullah.
