Jean-Bernard Merimee, France's former U.N. ambassador, who holds the title of "ambassador for life," was Annan's senior advisor for European issues when he took $156,000 from Baghdad after deciding to go into business "on my own behalf" though he now says he regrets having done so.
(snip)
And news of Merimee's dramatic admission comes as Annan issued a new report on the world body's proposed headquarters renovation in which the cost has soared more that 50 percent from an initial $1.2 billion to nearly $2 billion, with no end in sight
(snip) As the scandal draws closer and closer, and rampant mismanagement continues unabated, when will it become clear that Annan and his corrupt crew have got to go?

The whole U.N. needs to go.
BTTT
Bolton was the start of cleaning up the corrupt United Nations.
I haven't heard a peep out of the UN Secretary Bolton since he was confirmed...I hope he starts doing something soon and not become chummy with these guys.
As impressive as Bolton is, he's only one person. I'm not at all sure that the will to clean house extends much beyond Bolton.
Te UN is more corrupt than anything bill clinton ever envisioned. Why anyone would even want to reform such an organization is beyond me. It needs to be wiped slick about 50 feet beneath its current lowest level. Replacing it with a massive hole in the ground would be an infinite improvement.
Two billion dollars to renovate the UN, all on the US taxpayers tab. That is ridiculous. Move the headquarters to Paris and let the French pay for it.
