As always, soliciting FReeper comments, observations, and opinions.
Rummy speaks up and sets the record straight.
Bidens back, Boss!
That conservative stalwart Richard Lugar will face off against the liberal Christopher Dodd on See-B-S.
Russert has Murtha but makes sure no Republican is on to dispute what Timmyll paint as the Republican Sliming of War Hero Murtha.

Good morning, Alas. I want to hear one person quote anything that anyone from the Administration has said negative about Murtha. I have plenty of negative comments about him, but I don't count.

Congressional News Conference U.S. Policy in Iraq U.S. Capitol John P. Murtha , D-PA
Representative Murtha spoke to reporters about the decision to engage in military operations in Iraq and called for a plan to withdraw troops from Iraq, despite his initial vote to authorize military force. Following a brief, and at times emotional, statement he answered questions from the reporters. As a Vietnam veteran and House Appropriations Subcommittee on Defense Ranking Member he criticized the Bush administrations war policy as well as its partisan attacks on Democratic members adverse to current war policy. He was particularly critical of Vice President Cheney for calling critics unpatriotic and past lack of military service, saying I like guys who got five deferments and never been there, and send people to war, and then don't like to hear suggestions about what needs to be done. |

House Proceeding House Session U.S. House of Representatives
Members debated a rule and resolution on the immediate withdrawal of military forces from Iraq. The resolution was brought to the floor by Representative Hunter to clarify the Houses position on troop deployment in Iraq. The previous day Representative Murtha had called for an end to the deployment and criticized the Bush administration and fellow Republicans for characterizing opposition to further military operations in Iraq as unpatriotic. In often contentious debate, Democratic members accused Representative Hunter of constructing a misleading ploy to win political favor for Republican members opposed to Representative Murthas sentiments.

*****Rep. Sam Johnson (R-Tex.), who spent seven years as a prisoner of war in Vietnam, that 's longer than McCain or anyone else. Isn't it fair to have him with Murtha for balance, or atleast the appearance of fairness to viewers?
*****But, Peach already exposed Tim Russert acting as democrat-stooge, by twisting Powell's words by selective editing of MTP appearance.
*****Will Russert demand an answer from Murtha with this as he did with Tom Delay & other republicans?
Jack Murtha about Abscam Scandal & about his ethics problems?
Republican lawmakers say that ties between Rep. John Murtha (D-Pa.) and his brother's lobbying firm, KSA Consulting, may warrant investigation by the House ethics committee... According to a June 13 article in The Los Angeles Times, the fiscal 2005 defense appropriations bill included more than $20 million in funding for at least 10 companies for whom KSA lobbied. Carmen Scialabba, a longtime Murtha aide, works at KSA as well.
KSA directly lobbied Murtha's office on behalf of seven companies, and a Murtha aide told a defense contractor that it should retain KSA to represent it, according to the LA Times.
In early 2004, Murtha reportedly leaned on U.S. Navy officials to sign a contract to transfer the Hunters Point Shipyard to the city of San Francisco, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. A company called Lennar Inc. had right to the land, and Laurence Pelosi, nephew to House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), was an executive with the firm at that time.
Murtha also inserted earmarks in defense bills that steered millions of dollars in federal research funds toward companies owned by children of fellow Pennsylvania Rep. Paul Kanjorski (D). ..
At least 4 networks sense that Rumsfeld's views matter something today after last weeks incidents. Apparently, for Russert his democrat friend is much desirable than Sec.Def.

Don't hold your breath on getting an accurate quote from the media....they have inaccurately accused the congresswoman of calling Murtha a coward, when in fact, she was reading him a message from a soldier!

I want to hear one person quote anything that anyone from the Administration has said negative about Murtha. I have plenty of negative comments about him, but I don't count. Murtha had been a critic of the current Iraq war in 2002, before it started?
"I won't stand for the swift-boating of Jack Murtha," Kerry said. The Democrats won't stand for taking Murtha's words seriously, which I take to be the real meaning "swift-boating."
Murtha himself declared, "All of Iraq must know Iraq is free -- free from United States occupation." I propose that Murtha go to the White House and throw John Kerry's medals over a fence at the Capitol in protest of the American "occupation" of Iraq, and that John Kerry then step forward to defend him from those of us who stand at the ready to "swift-boat" Murtha.

Don't hold your breath on getting an accurate quote from the media....If I tried that, I would have been dead long ago. I have been listening to repeated accusations that the right is "smearing" Murtha, and not one person has challenged them to provide a quote.

Thanks, anita. Best expose Murtha right off the bat before anyone thinks he's a serious representative for the left.
To: Alas Babylon!
Thanks, as always, AB, for the thread.
Thank goodness for Fox, even if they are having hairplugs on. MTP sounds just awful - no pubbie on to counter the dim lies (not that he would allow them to talk if they were on the program!).

I am going to tape the CSPAN replay of the debate Friday night, but I doubt if the cameras will show that Harold Ford led the charge against the newbie Congresswoman. Perhaps he is feeling a bit of remorse at his bullying behavior.

It's a Rummy kind of day on the msm spinning nets, he will set the "Lords of spin" straight.
Looks like the bird flu is about as far away as fat Tim can get from the dems stupendous loss Friday night and like you said no opposition to the former hero Murtha. He's obviously suffering from Alzheimer's.
