Hello? Did you not read the article I linked by Ollie North?

There was no link on the post I read. All I have is your quote of what Ollie said. Is it farther back in the thread?

Question Peach, WHY is the reenlistment rate 103% of quote? Insisting on hyper negativity does NOT enhance your credibility Peach. Reenlistment at 103% of quota is an observable fact. Where is the observed data to support the "lowering morale"? Fraggings. None. Battle field refusals? None. Desertions? Nope. Sinking enlistment rates? Nope. High Turnover? Nope.

So I have an unsubstantiated claim vrs the observable data. Sorry if I trust my data over the rhetoric.

Ok, that is it. Source for this claim? I can not find ANY verifcation for this line. That this is a lie is proven by record reenlistment rates. "Sinking morale" then why are they reenlisting at 103% of quota even knowing they will be going BACK to Iraq if they do??????

Whoa! Dont put words in my mouth! (or posts as the case may be). I agreed with Peach on low morale and blamed it on liberal politicians and a media willing to blame our troops for torture and baby killing. I can attest to a lowering of morale, at least from my two buddies who are over there, one of who I just heard from this week. But before you leap, their morale is low not because they dont believe in the mission, not because they have lost faith in W, and not because they they think we are losing. But they are extremely unhappy with our media and liberal politicians. That was my contention. Is the morale so low that it is a lost cause? Absolutley not, and no one here has said that, at least I havent. But the bad press, fake polls and shrill liberals ARE taking their toll. To deny this is foolish. Im on your side MNJohnnie, please look before you leap..

Great post MNJ. How can we possibly trust those who spin every story that comes along?? All of a sudden they want to hire someone who plays it straight, I don't think so.
Once the msm loses credibility it's lost and they lost credibility long ago.

Both Walter Jones and Sam Johnson are R's in Congress. Why don't you start naming names instead of painting with such a broad brush?

FreeReign - have you not been on the threads these last few months and seen the huge number of freepers who consider the Republicans spineless? The names would be too many to list who are NOT doing their jobs. We would have an easier time listing those who are doing their jobs. Particularly in Congress. I'm not sure, off the top of my head, I can think of one single Republican Senator who is defending the administration and supporting the mission in Iraq.

References to "spineless" performances go a long way back here. Specifically, concerning the war, the spinelessness is relatively new.

Peach, most of the House R's performed well this week. In the Senate it was about 20 R's who voted correctly.

To say that not one single R Senator supports the mission is incorrect.

The country was in the worst recession since the 1930s, with inflation and unemployment at record levels. But many who had hoped for more inspired leadership after the Ford administration found themselves disappointed

Oh I remember all too well what a mess the country was in with prime rate over 20%. I had moved across country and was trying to close on a house praying every day I could get it closed before interest rates climbed again and I would no longer be able to qualify. Workers were prohibited from getting raises and so you had to jump jobs in order to keep you pay going up with inflation. GREATEST PRESIDENTS?? Bull$hit - WORST PRES counting Clintoon.

And how are freepers helping to turn this problem around? We're not

We are not because we are so busy screaming at our own side and acting as the echo chamber for the DNC's spin lies. Still looking for the Ollie North link. Remeber where about you posted it?

Republican internal polls are showing similar results. It is not the end of the world, but they should be factored in to Republican political strategy

How do you know the Republican Internals?

I would rather start with a fence/wall combo myself.

Border Security Improvement Act - Introduced 10/19/2005
http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/bdquery/z?d109:h.r.04083:

From post 757 above.

SEC. 2. CONSTRUCTION OF FENCE ON SOUTHERN BORDER.

Section 102 of the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act of 1996 (8 U.S.C. 1103 note) is amended--

(1) by striking `Attorney General' each place such term appears and inserting `Secretary of Homeland Security';

(2) by redesignating subsections (c) and (d) as subsections (d) and (e), respectively;

(3) in subsection (b), by striking `subsection (d)),' and inserting `subsection (e)),'; and

(4) by inserting after subsection (b) the following:

`(c) Construction of Fence on Southern Border-

`(1) IN GENERAL- In carrying out subsection (a), the Secretary of Homeland Security shall provide for the construction of a fence along the entire southern border of the United States.

`(2) AUTHORIZATION OF APPROPRIATIONS- There are authorized to be appropriated $2,000,000,000 to carry out paragraph (1).'.

I'd like to hear from the troops (and the vets)about things we could do to keep their morale up and show our support.

I know they can't get involved in politics.....but what cheers them up the most?

One thing I'd like to see organized is a boycott of any city that has passed one of those lousy anti-America resolutions about the war in Iraq....and San Francisco too.

Given the polls during the election, Bush should then have won by 20 to 30 points.

It was in Hillary's interest that the push-polls be in GW's favor. Don't look for any similar polls now.

I know exactly how you feel right now...

I have a 6 year old granddaughter and a 9 month old granddaughter...

I babysit them both...and talk about loving two beings more than life...just try to put anyone between a grandmother and her grandkiddies...THAT is a quick way to lose your life, right???

Hayworth For President!

Close, but no cigar. Hayworth to replace Kyl in 2006, and Kyl for President in 2008.

Well, I can hope, can't I?

The poll discussion was not the thrust of my argument

Factually incorrect. "Poll numbers" are the whole rock you argument is based on. It has been at least mentioned in in virtually every post of your today. Still waiting for one of the Doom and Gloom crowd to explain to me what they think they accomplish acting as the echo chamber for the DNC spin machine?

This denial and assuming the military is just happy that lies are being told about their mission are naive at best

Still looking for some observable data on this. Sorry but this is merely an attempt to deflect the people who challenge they Doom and Gloom crowds point. Sorry but making a statement of your feelings as fact is NOT credible.

And I should have mentioned, we have patriot and military man, Ollie North, who has confirmed the same things about the sinking morale of our military. The denial of this on this thread alone is astounding.

Here is the 1st post I can find. I see no link.

The MSM always try to couch THEIR distrust and dislike by using "we, the American people" to so their dirty work...and I for one, do not like it.

I don't like it, either, when the LSM claims to speak for the "American people." Great post! Thanks.
