Snoop Dogg: Crips Founder Shouldn't Be Executed

POSTED: 10:20 pm EST November 19, 2005

SAN QUENTIN, Calif. -- Rapper Snoop Dogg is urging California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger to grant clemency to a gang founder who is scheduled to be executed next month.

Snoop Dogg said Crips co-founder Stanley "Tookie" Williams inspired him to work with young people.

The rapper and former Crips member spoke to about 1,000 people outside San Quentin, where Williams awaits execution on Dec. 13 for the murders of four people in 1979.

Williams has exhausted his appeals and is seeking clemency from Schwarzenegger. The governor has said he is "dreading" the decision.

Williams founded the Crips in 1971 in Los Angeles. In the following years, the gang battled with its rival, the Bloods, for territory and control of the drug trade.

In prison, however, Williams has gained international acclaim for writing children's books about the dangers of gang life. An award-winning television movie starring Jamie Foxx, "Redemption," was based on his life.

Why does CA even bother with the death penalty if its going to take so long to execute someone?

No kidding. I was just thinking, this Tookie guy starts a gang, that encourages almost two generations of boys & young men to DROP out of school, join his gang....get involved in drugs & murder. They eventually wind up in jail or dead. So, he scribbles a few books, says he has been redeemed & so should be spared. What crap. What time do Sarandon and Robbins show up to this media farce?

Don't be suprised if Arnold caves...

Yep, when dealing with the African community in America, reality does not mater. It is all about the "Perception". Just ask Al Sharpton.

Especially when those same "intellectuals", who are so opposed to the death penalty, push so hard to murder innocent babies.... Just another example of the left's double-standard.

Anyone with a name like Snoop Dogg should be executed.

Why? What did he do wrong? Or does he just 'deserve' it? Snoop wasn't involved in this crime. I'm not much on rap but I have to admit I'll listen to his music if one of my friends happens to be listening to it. The beat is sort of catchy even if I don't agree with the lyrics.

As to the gentleman in jail, I believe Mr. Wilson should face punishment for his crimes, although I have to admit I would have a tough time not granting clemency based on what he has done in prison since. Not many on death row make a true change and realize the error of their ways

How much clemency have the Crips shown their victims?

Roger Hedgecock had a great rant on this turd the other day. If someone has a transcript, post it. He had some great information on this sack of ass droppings.

The upper picture doesn’t show their heads – I wonder if they are wearing blue bandanas.

Why? What did he do wrong?

Mr. Dogg has done nothing wrong, unless you want to count the degradation of polite American societal standards a crime.

Mr. Dogg has been involved of plenty of mischief...big time.

... a death row convict who was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize...

Wonder what Nobelist Jimmie Kahtah has to say about Mr. Dogg's friend.

Wrong, Snoop Dog. Your alledged friend murdered; and should have been executed a long time ago. Instead he has been a guest.

...with names you don't like now?

I didn't like his name last year, or the year before that!

These imbecilic corrupters of children don't belong in polite society. They are a menace to the empty skulls whose parents allow them to buy such garbage.

The name is a joke, but then you know that.

Anyone with a name like Snoop Dogg should be executed.

At the very least he should be spayed or neutered.
