What our Commander in Chief has led us to in Iraq

Regarding Senator John Kerry's comments this morning (November 19, 2005) on Good Morning America's Weekend edition, where he said of President Bush and the War in Iraq, "What we need is a little more commander-in-chief, and a little less campaigner-in-chief,”...let's see, Mr. Kerry, President Bush took us to war in Iraq as the Commander in Chief. In the midst of that war, he defeated you in a presidential election where this very issue was the principle part of the deabte...and he defeated you with the largest voter turnout in the history of this country, by a clear majority. In that time and since, our military and diplomats, under his command and leadership, have:

  1. Completed the fastest, most effective military advance in military history.
  2. Defeated the 4th or 5th largest military in the world in quick fashion.
  3. Freed 30 million people from abject tyranny.
  4. Deposed one of the most ruthless tyrants of the last fifty years, along with his Ba'athist party.
  5. Destroyed all attempts by the remaining Ba'athists and their terrorist allies to regain the upper hand, killing the tyrant's two sons and capturing him in the process.
  6. Secured the vast majority of the nation and handed sovereignty back to the Iraqi people on schedule.
  7. Held the 2nd largest, freest vote in Iraqi history to vote on their own interim government, in the face of and despite terrorist attempts to thwart and disrupt that process.
  8. Had the interim Iraqi government develop and introduce a republican constitution on schedule, in the face of and despite terrorist attempts to thwart and disrupt that process.
  9. Held the largest free vote in Iraqi history to approve the constitution that the interim government proposed, with even the Sunni minority now participating in that vote, in the face of and despite terrorist attempts to thwart and disrupt that process.
  10. Assisted the Iraqis themselves in putting the former tyrant on trial for his crimes.
  11. Are preparing for what will undoubtedly be the new largest vote in Iraqi history to elect their own government under their new constitution, again, in the face of and despite terrorist attempts to thwart and disrupt that process.
  12. Trained an Iraqi military that is now actively taking major support and lead roles in fighting for their own free nation against their terrorist enemies, losing many more of their own lives, and spilling more of their own blood in that process than our own soldiers.
No, Mr. Kerry, your lame attempts to paint this historical mission and tremendous victory in negative terms and throw that negativity on the very leader who had the foresight and the commitment, in the face of abject corrupt opposition abroad and here at home, do not "carry" (or should that be "Kerry") any weight of moral certitude whatsoever. These attempts by yourself and others to try and use your political position to influence us to snatch defeat out of the jaws of victory and, "cut and run", are nothing Moore than odorous political gas passing in the wind.

The new Iraqi forces are awesome, I wish there was more reporting on them.
I know it's "cherry picking" of all the positive things going on but those guys impress me.

I watched most of that episode on C-span last night including both votes.

I think that there ought to be a few persons who are totally embarrassed by the democrats that they vote for to represent them in Congress. I know that I am embarrassed by that lying hypocritical imbecile Kerry from my state even though I have never voted for him.

By the way, hardly a mention in two of the local papers here concerning the vote last night. Typical.

But .. I believe Dubya has figured it out; unlike his dad.

There was speculation earlier this week or last that there was a cooling of the relationship between Dubya and his dad and I believe it might have been over this very issue. And .. I'm equally sure Bar sided with her son .. it was time to kick butt!!

Well written article."Mr Kerry, your lame attempts to paint this historical mission and tremendous victory in negative terms....do not carry any weight..."I agree, but consider the audience,"Good Morning America".This is the same crowd that still watches(and believes)what they hear on the network news channels. They'll buy his arguement hook, line, and sinker, and never bother to think twice about it.

Kerry is pitiful; he is an appeaser of terrorism; the lengths he went to to immulate President Kennedy’s medals in so short a time was pure theater.

Calling Iraq a failure is nothing short of sophistry...Kerry's war was a fable, told so many times with embroidering; even he can't get the events straight. In any case, The Toy Boy is no longer relevant.

We're on the verge of another 1972. Then, not withstanding unremitting derision by the MSM and the left (pardon the redundancy), Nixon's program to "Vietnamize" the war had succeeded. With only minimal American support (most of our troops already having come home) the South Vietnamese had thrown back a determined, full scale invasion, inflicting staggering losses of men and material on the North Vietnamese forces in the process. In the aftermath the North Vietnamese finally decided to negotiate a peace agreement.

All that was required for America then was to "stay the course": to stand by our allies and to enforce the peace. Although I wouldn't venture to assign a particular probability, the very possible result today would have been a free and prosperous South Vietnam on the model of South Korea or Taiwan.

But instead 1972 was followed by 1975. In the intervening period, thousands of Americans, INCLUDING ELECTED REPRESENTATIVES AND SENATORS, strove relentlessly to slash or eliminate American aid to Indochina, demonize our allies there, legitimize our enemies, and prevent enforcement (or even adequate monitoring) of the peace accords.

Right now the left is compelling us to re-fight the political battles of '69-'71. While we fight those with all we've got, we must also anticipate and prepare for the battles of '72-'75. Never forget that when the left claims they "only" want to bring the troops home, THIS IS A LIE. The troops will come home, but the left will still seek the defeat of America through the defeat of her allies: that is the destruction of democracy in Iraq.

The left was able to succeed in facilitating the destruction of South Vietnam primarily because they were able to secure control of Congress. This must be prevented from reoccurring. For the foreseeable future, even after the troops have come home, we must continue to treat EVERY national election -- congressional as well as presidential -- as a wartime contest as crucial as the presidential election of 2004.

actually the REVISIONIST, America-HATING, DAMNEDyankee LEFT are NOT stupid.

what they are is FASCIST (and/or really a bright shade of PINK) and they are also CRUEL, heart-LESS & ARROGANT, LYING FILTH.

the "Liberals", so lauded by the mainSLIME media are (believe it or not BOTH fascist & socialist in outlook! that's quite a trick!)

furthermore, the "intellectual/social/financial/academic elites" wouldn't spit on their "useful idiots" (anybody that believes their KNOWING LIES) if those same idiots were on fire.

ALL the "elites" want is POWER & $$$$$$$$$$. those two things are ALL that they believe in. nothing more;nothing less.
