Yep, a white feather would send the same message!
It is still used the British Military if I'm not mistaken.

Yes, a white feather. A white flag indicates surrender, while a white feather indicates cowardice. And that, irregardless of his previous service, is what he has shown. Shoot, he didn't even have the moxie to vote for his own idea.
