She said he told her that "cowards cut and run, Marines never do."

I absolutely love it. Great move by the Republicans yesterday to put to a vote the Democrats' cowardly cut-and-run policies so typical of them. Now, they're screaming “cheap political stunt,” but, isn't it a cheap political stunt the daily parade of Democrats in front of TV cameras or their endless media reports denouncing the administration and the war in Iraq, and how GW has mislead us into an unjust and unfair war and requesting the immediate withdrawal from Iraq when they voted in favor in the first place?

The vote last night exposed the Democrats for what they are --the cheapest political stunters-- lol.

I am curious...how many FReepers actually listened to Rep. Murtha's comments last night (before the resolution vote)?

I listened. A large part of what he said seemed to come pretty much verbatim from his press release that started the whole brouhaha.

I also believe I heard him say that the Iraqis should be told we are pulling out immediately after the December elections. That to me means "immediate" withdrawal.

Many of us were not for Jean Schmidt in the primary. She really did a great job.

Murtha is clearly losing the battle with senility.

As a Republican and 2nd District voter, I'm embarrassed to be represented by Jean Schmidt. Congressman Murtha's proposal was totally irresponsible and easy to rip apart. Instead of doing that, Schmidt took the easy route and threw out a cheap personal attack against a former Marine and has made the entire national party look bad in the process.

We cannot condemn the unpatriotic DailyKos and vicious MoveOn.org for making ridiculous personal attacks, then defend someone like Schmidt when she does the same. If you don't like Murtha's irresponsible proposal, state why. Instead, Schmidt has managed to make someone totally in the wrong look like the victim here by stooping to MoveOn-style personal attacks.

I listened also, his main points were from "parents"

(lib/stuck in the 60's-- parents that happened to be so fortunate as to raise intelligent Conservative children who joined the Armed Forces as responsible adults)

Those who are serving never said a word.
As usual for the lefties, it's all about "them", and their nothing more than "feelings".

Their offspring still serve proudly and probably wonder why by the Grace of God that they were borne of A***oles

Congresswoman Schmidt showed her fire and courage and merely read a real Marine's comments defending the Corps and the President and Americans.

Murtha is a crooked corrupt creep who is under Ethics investigations for illegally using his position to funnel and fix huge military contracts to his brother - and was using C-Span and flowing crododile tears to try to divert his problems and change the channel for the democrats.

Then Murtha voted against what he has proposed - and immediate surrender to Al Qaeda by America.

Anyone claiming anything else is a troll or a "sleeper" or a liar or a leftie coward.

I see the sleepers and RINOS and MoveOn.FReepers are already out there slamming Schmidt: "We are better than that!"

Oh - Really? Sounds very... French-cut!

Picky, picky, picky~! Still, your type of response does little to help Murtha deal with his senility.

What's most shameful here is that the Democrats are using this sick, old man.

Anyone have a video clip of Jean Schmidt's speech????

Of all places to find out about Jean Schmidt's speech...I saw the clip on Saturday Night Live. I very seldom watch it, but boy did I enjoy it!
Had to catch myself wondering if it was a parody or not...but they did proceed to poke fun at her. Guess they never realized how many people were watching, thinking, "YOU GO GIRL!"

When republicans disagreed with Murtha's remark, they were "making personal attacks"....Guess only dems can criticise a man in uniform. They definately use the military only when it suits their purpose. Replublicans stand by them always...thick or thin.

These colors don't run!

Kurdish and Shiite families will testify to events that killed thousands using chemical attacks and biological weapons attacks... whether he buried weapons, shipped them to Syria, or used them all...the threat was there and was real

In other words, Murtha is the official Rat poster boy for their "cut and run" policy.

I'm gonna have to disagree whole-heartedly with you on this one.

The Honorable Jean Schimdt relayed a message to him from a fellow Marine. She did not actually call Mr. Murtha a coward but it would be fine with me if she had.

Mr. Murtha has denigrated the hard work and truly notable accomplishments of not only his fellow-Marines but the rest of the U.S. Military involved in the war effort. We have a number of critical operations involving infantry combat going on and Mr. Murtha has done the unspeakable. He is truly giving joy and comfort not only to the American left but to the Islamo-Fascists fighting our Troops and Iraqi Troops and civilians.

He has attacked not only the Commander in Chief but the entire leadership of the War on Terror and by constantly bringing up "'Boo Grab" (his pronunciation-not mine)he implies that our sons & daughters are evil, torturers of hapless innocents.

I am truly puzzled by his motives for grabbing the cameras at this time. I am not so cynical, yet, to believe he did this because of the ethics investigations against him were coming to a head.

To Mr. Murtha I would say, "Al Qaida luvs ya, baby!"

After this constant negative blather from the press, from the left, from the gop mushies, etc. it was more than I could take.

The Honorable Jedi Jean made me stand up & cheer! When she offered up that Marine's message I took courage! I hope our Troops get to hear it and I pray they know we stand them behind them and are so very proud of all they have done.

Just for a reference point, I was for the war, then against the occupation. Since then I have "evolved" and believe we need to stay the course and make sure Iraq does not turn into a terrorist nation.
However, I thought what she said was out of line. I believe there are good people on both sides sand to call someone a coward because they don't agree with you is wrong. I appreciate all contributions from our military women, but women are not subject to the selective service and the combat deaths of women in Iraq are in single digits. Hearing Representative Schmit call a former combat veteran a coward is upsetting.

"I could just imagine how nervous she must have been on the floor with everyone watching," Bubp said. "I don't want to be interjected into this. I wish she never used my name."

If he didn't want his name used, he should have said so...likewise...if he didn't mean what he said, he shouldn't have said it...

What you are saying is different than what he is saying. He said he never mentioned Murtha. He said he never said what she said he did. Who is lying, the marine or the congresswoman? Why don't you believe the marine? Politicians are liars.
