House Republicans maneuvered for swift and overwhelming rejection Friday of a Democratic lawmaker's call for U.S. troops to be pulled out of Iraq.
Furious, Democrats accused the GOP of orchestrating a political stunt by leaving little time for debate and by taking the heart out of the resolution offered by Rep. John Murtha of Pennsylvania.
For those reasons, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi sent word to the rank-and-file to vote - with the Republicans - against immediate withdrawal of American troops.

The lefties are trying to squirm out of this one; they definitely don't want to be pinned down to an actual position. Pelosi is trying to get the House Dems to collectively dodge the bullet, rather than put up or shut up.
YOHOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Republicans growing SPINE!!
Or, is ROVE back?
Call the spineless cowards on their bloviating and they back down . . . it's starting to look like the DIMs have over played their pathetic hand.
My guess is Tom Delay. :-)
Although Rove would drive the moonbats crazy too.
John Kyl for Maj. Leader.
Democrats are right, its just like Vietnam all over again. The enemy is taking great strength from the MSM, Hollywood, and 'Rats and Rinos in Congress.
Evidently Hastert has found the courage to stand up against the raving beech Pelosi......waiting for Frist!!
The fiery, emotional debate climaxed when Rep. Jean Schmidt, R-Ohio, the most junior member of the House, told of a phone call she received from a Marine colonel.
"He asked me to send Congress a message - stay the course. He also asked me to send Congressman Murtha a message - that cowards cut and run, Marines never do," Schmidt said.
Democrats booed and shouted her down - causing the House to come to a standstill.
BRING IT ON !
Spineless wet noodle cut and run coward demoncrats.
Hmm.....looking at DU and KOS, looks like the counter-argument is going to be that "Hunter's Bill isn't the same thing as Murtha's."
They don't want to "get out of Iraq right now" they want to "redeploy."
I second that motion!!
Boy! I just heard a Republican Congesswoman from, I believe, Michigan, read a quote from a marine in Michigan and he, the marine, called Murtha a coward! The house went nuts! But, she and he was and is right!
The Republicans presented a resolution that essentially says "We want to leave Irag right this second." No one is going to vote yes to that.
That isn't brave, it's just a blatant misstatement of Murtha's proposal.
Why is no one disgusted by these politics? Putting up a resolution you don't agree with only to vote against it, pretending that it is the position your opponents are taking (when none of them agree with it, of course).
I guarantee you he is calling the troops to battle. God bless Tom!!!
If the congress is going to pull the plug on the Iraq war, it's time to say so now. Are the Dems going to get a third chance (and this will be the third they have voted to support the President--look it up) to vote the war down, vote for it, and once again say (with much success)that they are against it?
How did it ever come to this?
I love our troops; I support our troops and I believe in this President. How the enemy must be laughing and praying a Democrat is elected next time then they can have a field day picking us off a little here and a little there until there is no Republic left.
NO TO HILLERY!!!!!
ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
back to DUH for you!
I DO know that there ARE a lot of people who said that we just cut out right now. This will at least show that the Democrats don't agree with that.
