But I doubt most cases in Africa are because of sex with virgins to cure the disease. Maybe a small percentage. Most come from the fact that prostitution is rampant, people have sex with many partners from a young age, and safe sex is frowned upon. Some countries don't even really acknowledge they have a problem. I think the reason AIDS spreads well among gays in the US, isn't because being gay makes you that much more likely to get it (it does some), but because gays are the only demographic in this country that behaves that irresponsibly. The only other one that comes close is inner city blacks. In DC where I used to live, I think the number is 1 in 7 blacks in the city have HIV. I know overall 1 in 20 in the city have it (highest in the country.
If all men preferred Bush, we wouldn't be in this mess. Wait, that's not what I meant to say. No, wait, I think it is.
I guess it's OK for an employer to fire a smoker because of the effects on the cost of health insurance. But a homo for their practices?
I'm filing this headline in the "Well, duh!" folder.

We are saying the same thing. Homosexuals, black africans, and black americans are three groups that engage in very risky and dangerous behavior (i.e. unsafe sex with multiple partners). It isn't surprising that all three are reaping the consequences of their actions.

So what we have is an 8% increase in a 1% subset of the population as a whole. that's a .0008 increase. big deal.
And of course, they'll yell and scream and tell us that we're not throwing enough $$$ towards finding a cure for AIDS.

HIV spreads not because of homosexuality but because of a set of( behaviors), behaviors practiced across sexual orientations.

Homosexuality ensures that penetration will be anal or oral. While both are possible heterosexually, the majority of intercourse is (presumably) genital, an act which is NOT particularly conducive to the transmission of AIDS. Anal sex, one of only two penetration options open to homos, IS a leading transmission mechanism.
In other words, the very nature of homosexuality predisposes certain behaviors that are more likely to result in propagation of AIDS.
