BATON ROUGE, La. The state Republican Party can count three more members among its fold in the Legislature.
Representatives Ernest Wooton of Belle Chasse, Dan "Blade" Morrish of Jennings and William Daniel of Baton Rouge have jumped to the G-O-P.
Their switches bring the G-O-P membership in the Legislature to 55: 40 members of the 105-member House and 15 members of the 39-member Senate

Is there a viable candidate to oppose her? I don't know about any vets, but Bobby Jindal is the big dog out there right now. He seems more likely to go governor though.

"Rats fleeing the sinking ship."
And when they find a ship they'll still be rats! That's where we get so many RINO's, they used to be RATS!

You prefer Republicans by Birth like Lincoln Chafee?Pull your head out, you've soiled yourself. Reagan WAS a democrat.
There must be a context mix-up here for you to say something that stupid.
why not wait and find out whether these men have conservative records?
They don't, kool-aid friend.

Yes, I think everyone knows that both Landrieu and Gov. "Blank Stare" are vulnerable. However, I haven't heard a thing about possible Republicans candidates running against Landrieu. I would love it if Bobby Jindal (now serving in the House) ran. I think he would crush her.

...desire to remain in the majority, regardless of the letter after their name is what is driving their party changing. You got it. They are not exactly subtle.

Senator Vitter might jump in first to take on Blanco. He's been rumored to want the governor's mansion for quite a while. If he wins, he'll appoint his replacement, which could be Bobby. If so, he won't take on Landrieu, so the backup will likely be Rep. Charles Boustany, from the southwestern part of the state. He's less well known, but if he's the sole GOP candidate like Vitter was, he'll quickly become very competitive.

Yeah, Louisiana has been lagging behind the other southern states in realigning on the local level, but I think come 2007 that's going to change in a big way when we have our state elections.
