In an odd sort of way, Murha did the administration and troops a big favor.

Murtha was an S2 officer which meant he worked intelligence / counterinterintelligence among other things in his stint in the Corps.

Time will tell which he was working as this week. His stance regarding Iraq has been known for well over a year.

That's a very interesting point. It certainly reminded everyone that we don't want another Vietnam - pulling out the troops when we're winning, to our eternal shame. Kerry's campaign put Vietnam back on the national radar, and I think everyone is very sensitive to it.
