More Wilson Meltdown (Lying Larry Johnson from VIPS sounding worried)
The American Spectator ^ | 11/11/2005 | Jed Babbin

Posted on 11/18/2005 6:08:22 AM PST by frankjr

Earlier this afternoon, I had a very unpleasant conversation with Mr. Larry Johnson, a former CIA officer who is now out and about defending Joe Wilson and Valerie Plame. Johnson, in my interview with him, confirmed some things, left some open, but revealed something startling: the defense of Joe Wilson is apparently being run from inside the CIA.

Johnson came up on the scope when he accused Gens. Paul Vallely and Tom McInerny of falsely attacking Wilson. Vallely, you may recall, said last week on John Batchelor's ABC radio show that Wilson -- husband of CIA employee Valerie Plame -- had told Vallely (a year before Robert Novak outed Plame) that Plame was a CIA employee. I asked Johnson about several points regarding his defense of Wilson and attack on Vallely. Johnson was very specific about certain things.

First, he said that since Vallely had made his statements, he -- Johnson -- has been in contact with both Wilson and Plame, and that Wilson denied to him making the statement to Vallely. But there is a lot more. I asked Johnson about a statement he made to congressional Democrats in July.

In particular, I asked him about the statement attacking Fred Rustman -- one of Plame's former CIA supervisors who left the agency in 1990 -- who had said she was under "light cover." Johnson's statement said Rustman's claims are not true. When I asked if he had talked to Rustman or Plame about it, Johnson became agitated. He said, “I talked to several people, I’ve talked to multiple people…" When I pressed him on who, he said:

"Hey, I’m not getting into specifically which individuals I’ve talked to, some are still active duty.

“I’ve not talked to Rustman. I’ve talked to people that know and it’s absolutely certain that Rustman has not been in contact with her, has not stayed in contact with her and did not know her subsequent status when she turned, when she became a NOC."

When I told him I would have to conclude that his statement was not supported because he wouldn't cite sources, instead of accepting this as just one man's conclusion, Johnson continued to be agitated and argued,"Your conclusion is wrong...I have had contact with other individuals, [tape garbled] other CIA officers who had contact with Fred." (emphasis added)

Johnson insisted on giving me what he called, the direct quote: "I have spoken with people who are knowledgeable, who have direct knowledge of the situation. I have spoken to multiple sources on this and they -- to a person -- indicate that Rustman was not in social contact with her after 1992 and had no knowledge of her new status as non-official cover officer."

The conversation ended a moment or two later when Mr. Johnson suggested I should place the entire matter inside a bodily orifice, which I declined to do. At that point, I hung up on him.

What does all that mean? When Johnson says that he has been in contact with other CIA officers, some still on active duty, about Rustman it can mean only one thing: someone -- or some group -- still on active service inside the CIA is managing and directing the people such as Johnson who are attacking Wilson's critics and doubters. (Correction: there is one alternative possibility, that Mr. Johnson's story and defense of Wilson/Plame is baloney. Either is equally possible.) This story gets worse and worse. Stay tuned.

I post this because of Petey Yost's laughable AP article today about the Plame case and mentioning the letter from Larry Johnson and his VIPS crew to the President. Yost does not give the background on VIPS and their and the CIA's bogus war on the Bush Admin.

Inside the CIA? The rogue part? The part which wants an easy, cushy job in order to demand even more funds by showing "how on top of things they are"? You mean.. that segment of the CIA which possibly has access to WHERE military "prisons" are in the world? My, oh my.

CIA needsd to be hauled before a Grand Jury. There job is to gather intell and brief POTUS, not sabatouge policies they disagree with.

Highlight of the radio week past was Jed Babbin stating that Joe Wilson is a CLOWN!

The irony is that tinfoil hat wearing leftists have always feared an "out of control" CIA subverting our elected Government. Now that it appears to have happened and Democrats support this subversion because they haven't been able to win elections.

Well, duh. They oughta rename it CYA. Good to see the desperation though, they are apparently running scared. The author oughta watch his back though, Johnson has been known to threaten people with bodily harm, he threatened a Freeper. I too recieved a sort of veiled threat via Freepmail after I started posting my suspicions about Vincent Cannistraro, but I am not sure who it was. All they sent was this quote from 1984:

"One of these days, thought Winston with sudden deep conviction, Syme will be vaporized. He is too intelligent. He sees too clearly and speaks too plainly. The Party does not like such people. One day he will disappear. It is written in his face."

His account has since been banned or suspended, not sure why.

WHICH HAPPENS TO BE A VIOLATION OF FEDERAL LAW.

Fitzgerald has turned out to be a clown. His career is over, he failed and failed miserably. His masters don't take well to public failure, he's going to spend the rest of his life in some small job, prosecuting small cases, being passed over time after time after time.

Interesting ! There has always been talk of "an Israeli cabal" inside the administration-(and there might have been-along with a Pro-French cabal, etc. etc.)-but LONG before such matterings came to light, there was talk of an "Arabist cabal" in the State Department, and the CIA.

I think you are on the right track.I also think a small cabal at the top of the CIA built a "bridge to nowehere" with their carefully manicured intelligence reports.

For example material expressing doubt about the reliability of certain sources was often scissored out of the reports the WH received. Powell was one of the victims of this ploy.

After things started going bad, the UNCENSORED reports were made available to willing journalists, with a disingenuous "they should have seen this" commentary.

Porter Goss is doing some long overdue housecleaning. Amazing the filth you detect when the bed and dresser are moved.

It's just all coming to the surface and it seems like it will take some time to clean it out.

There are two groups of people who need to be scrubbed frm the CIA and the State Department.

First, the Arabists.

Second, those who believe that Mother Russia is preferable to America.

I like the way these CIA types operate. They can leak what they feel like leaking, but otherwise hide behind Agency secrecy. They're rigging the game.

Larry Johnson is not a journalist. It seems to me he can be compelled to reveal who his sources are.

That's a strange message you got, Raving. I would urge any Freeper who is threatened to bring it to the attention of both their fellow Freepers and the authorities.

That might leave a few of the cleaning crew and maybe some of the cafeteria workers with their jobs intact.

This happened when I first started posting about Cannistraro. I was going to taunt the "spook" and invite him over for Halloween so I could show him a trick or two, but hubby told me I had better leave it alone. I ain't skeered, LOL!
