The range of current and former administration officials who may have identified a CIA agent to the Washington Post's Bob Woodward narrowed as numerous officials denied...
Vice President Dick Cheney isn't believed to have talked to Special Prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald since last year, nor has he given a waiver to Mr. Woodward. That removes him as Mr. Woodward's source. Also ruled out are President Bush... and Dan Bartlett...
Douglas Feith, former undersecretary of defense for policy, said he didn't talk to Mr. Woodward about Mr. Wilson and his wife, as did Carl Ford Jr., former assistant secretary of state for intelligence and research. A spokesman for former CIA Director George Tenet and his former deputy, John McLaughlin, said neither provided that information...
A person speaking on behalf of former Secretary of State Colin Powell said he didn't share that information... and a National Security Council official eliminated Stephen Hadley, the head of the NSC, as a possibility. Spokesmen for Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, who was National Security Adviser at the time, and John Bolton, a former top State Department official and now U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, said neither was Mr. Woodward's source.
Marc Grossman, a former undersecretary of state...didn't respond to phone calls... A spokesman for Deputy Chief of Staff Karl Rove, who remains under investigation in this case, said his client didn't discuss Ms. Plame with Mr. Woodward.
One official among those who knew of Ms. Plame's identify is former Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage. He was out of the country and hasn't responded to recent requests for comment on this subject...
The other two sources Mr. Fitzgerald asked Mr. Woodward about were Andrew Card, the White House chief of staff, and Mr. Libby. Mr. Woodward told Mr. Fitzgerald that he has no recollection...

Come now, let's parse words, shall we?
Joe Wilson's stock in trade was his vast experience as an "expert" on policy and a former "high ranking" government official (not to mention being married to a wife who worked for the Agency). I'm sure there is a lexicon of amorphous trigger terms used by journalists to try to indicate they got their information from someone like Joe, with "inside access".
In fact, Bob Novak's misuse of the term "operative" to describe Valerie Plame, is a big part of what set off this entire ridiculous rabbit chase to trace the Washington DC gossip circuit.
BTW- I don't think Wilson was Woodward's source. But I think he was a source to most of the rest of the world that he had any opportunity to try and impress..
Of course, in Joe Wilson's mind and with his irrepressible ego. . .
...Joe Wilson.
I think so too and said so in another thread last night. Wilson is a "former adminstration official" if you stretch things a bit. And Valerie presumably taught him about false-flag ops...
That is what is so stunning to me about all of this. I can understand them not stepping forward when the investigation was going on, because everyone thought Fitzgerald was a guy with enough integrity to find the truth and not to go for some petty charge like purjury with such a huge stretch. Once Libby was indicted, everyone should have poured out onto the streets screaming at the top of their lungs that an injustice has been done.
Instead, there in only one real man in Washington, and that's Vallely, the rest of them are sniveling cowards.
Is it bigger than a bread box? Is it east of the Mississippi river? Animal, vegetable, or mineral? Is is all BS?
Joe Wilson is not an administration official and I think an official is who Bob Woodward said he had talked with.Actually, Joe Wilson technically could be called "a former Bush administration official."
Course, from the Dems' perspective, if it was anyone but Powell, they'd say, "So?"
Tenet, has my bet.
Yeah, now that you mention it....
Shortly after the surprise Tenet-Pavitt resignations, current and former senior members of the U.S. intelligence community and the Justice Department told journalist Wayne Madsen, a former Naval intelligence officer, that they were directly connected to the criminal investigation of a 2003 White House leak that openly exposed Valerie Plame as an undercover CIA officer.Source
Normally, I would dismiss leftists such as Hersch or Madsen if it was based on their opinions, but in these articles they are actually quoting others who revealed the CIA was setting Bush up. And just why would they lie in this case, surely not to protect Bush.
Novak said he would speak when the investigation is over, but hasn't so far. Either he is waiting for Fitz to do his mop up work, or maybe he's expanding his revelations into an entire book. He knows everyone is waiting for him to speak, so he might try to milk this for a book deal rather than waste it all on one puny column that he'd be paid for as part of his regular syndication royalties.
This behavour by the CIA is in clear violation of U.S. Law. Every person in the CIA involved in trying to run a coup on the Bush admin should be under indictment.
The amazing thing is that the MSM - with very few exceptions - has RUN AWAY from this story of a possible CIA plot to undermine Bush, which could be one of the biggest political stories of the last 50 years, and taken Wilson at his word despite blatant and well-established holes in his story. The MSMs zeal to "get" Bush has made them work against their own best interests of getting at the real story, a story potentially far bigger than - even if it were true - an administration trying to get even with a critic.
The msm is protecting their "sources" tht spill national security info everyday. They won't bite the hand that feeds them. Even if (as they very well know) their sources are violating Federal LAW.<p. It's sexier to get Rove.
It doesn't even have to rise to the level of a coup. They're selectively leaking classified information, when it's to their advantage. Violates the law and the terms of their employment.
I thought Woodward said "former" administration official? Wilson is a "former" Ambassador.....
Well when you have a CIA "NOC" Valerie Plame Wilson working at the WMD desk, who had part in providing the President of the United States with "accurate assessments of the dangers of Saddamn et al, along with her co-conspirators, who AFTER the decision is made to go to WAR, then send a "special envoy" her husband on a mission to undercut the same administration. What can you call it. It is a coup attempt. After all this B***h and her slub of a husband were favored guest at the Clinton White House. I wonder what contact they have had with Hitlery and BJ since Bush took over.
