I had my first brined bird last Thanksgiving. And it was absolutely, positively the best turkey I have ever had in my whole life, hands down.

I'm so glad you posted that Krispy Kreme pudding; I'd seen it done on a cooking show but didn't have the recipe. Looks decadent.

Chilled Stuffing: Make the ``raw'' (unbaked) stuffing a day in advance, and keep chilled in the refrigerator overnight before stuffing the bird and/or baking the stuffing. This allows the flavors to blend.

Thanks for posting this as I did prepared stuffing in advance (first time) and was fearful if it would become too dry. Thought I'd add some broth before stuffing the bird (which is outside on my deck in brine). Temps in NY tonight are supposed to go below freezing and I pray my brine doesn't freeze as well.

Wish I had room in my refrigeratorS but coming from an Italian family, I'd be lucky to fit one grape with all the appetizers and side dishes waiting to be heated.

What do you think about cooking a ham in a crock pot?

Not the best way to prepare that ham.. Your ham is undoubtedly precooked and as such, that low dry temperature will dry out the moisture in the ham.. A Crockpot is by definition a very slow cooker, which tenderizes heavy meats, and allows liquids like soups, stews, and pot roast to slowly cook without boiling away, with minimal evaporation..

FYI Salmonella comes from the egg shell, not the egg. So, always wash the poop off the egg shell before you crack it.

Ha! You can't blame me.. It's a self induced condition, caused by a fertile imagination and inferior self control mechanisms.. If not controlled it will soon be hard to pick up chicks in a supermarket or buffet.. Take it from the voice of experience you need to get a grip.. :)

You are welcome.

Here's my favorite cooking story.

Daughter to Mother: Why do you cut the end off of the roast?
Mother: Because that's what your Grandmother always did.
Daughter to Grandmother: Why did you cut the end off of the roast?
Grandmother: Because that's what your Great Grandmother always did.
Daughter to Great Grandmother: Great Grandmother, why did you cut the end off of the roast?
Great Grandmother: So it would fit into the pan.

Well, the ham is glazed and the dressing is in the oven. The wife says the hams too sweet. Oh, well, one cannot please them all. We'll be loading up as soon as the dressings done.

The whole family gathers at the hunting cabin for Thanksgiving. Glenn's frying a turkey. Green bean casserole. Pecan pie. Some body will bring the sweet potatos. It'll work out. We'll all go 4-wheeling. Might even get a late day hunt in too. Probably not, but the wife's got to work tomorrow and I'm off. See you in the tree stand.
