Did MSNBC's "Countdown with Keith Olbermann" pull the plug on a guest because she refused to call for Fox News Channel host Bill O'Reilly's firing?
The day before the election, OReilly interviewed Angela Alioto, former president of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors.
The topic: The city's Proposition I - a resolution declaring that "the people of San Francisco oppose the federal government's use of public schools to recruit students for service in the military."
While O'Reilly was aghast over the proposition, Alioto complained the military was going into junior high school and "recruiting 12-year-olds."
On his radio show the next day, O'Reilly suggested that the military had no obligation to protect any locality that banned military recruitment, then joked that if he were president he'd announce:
"If al Qaeda comes in here and blows you up, we're not going to do anything about it. We're going to say, look, every other place in America is off limits to [al Qaeda] except San Francisco."
The comment enraged San Francisco officials, with several calling for O'Reilly's firing.
A source tells NewsMax that Olbermann's staff invited Alioto on his show Tuesday night, expecting that she would echo calls for O'Reilly's head.
A producer is said to have asked, "Now, youre calling for OReillys firing, right?
She told him that she wasnt - explaining that the Fox host was merely exercising his first amendment rights.
With that, Alioto's segment was canceled.
But it looks like Olbermann's staff got what they wanted after all, replacing Alioto with Chris Daly, a member of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors,
"You know, this is dangerous," Daly told Olbermann on the air. "Fox News and Westwood One need to take some accountability for this and terminate Bill O'Reilly's employment."
Bill O'Reilly - No Spin Zone
Keith Olbermann - Liberal Spin Zone
Please FReepmail me if you want on or off my FoxFan list. *Warning: This can be a high-volume ping list at times.
Forget Al-Quaeda. Next time an EARTHQUAKE hits SF, the military and national guard can just stay home. Tell the leftists that next time you see 'em.
O'Reilly should challenge this twerp to a boxing match with all the proceeds going to wounded GI's. What a great cause and an excuse for O'Reilly to kick his ass.
Keith Who?
Oh but the libocrites will want the military in San Fran then. This is how they think of the military, that it should be little more than a humanitarian organization going around handing out MREs and bottles of water to people to didn't prepare on their own for emergencies.
that guy really needs to do something with those eyebrows..got the GROUCHO look.
Since the Moonbats at the DUmmieland DUmp adopted Boy Toy Keith, his ratings have been outstripping the Fat Boy Chrissy and the pseudo-conservative former congressman on PMSNBC. They are still in the DUmper, but at least now they are measurable which is way higher than before the DUmmies fell in love with him.
He sucked on ESPN when he was a hockey reporter. He's even worse as a news reporter. I didn't even know he still had a job on ESPN radio. Just another reason to never listen to it.
Uh, San Francisco did not vote to ban military recruiting in public schools.
Angry homo with Tourette's maybe?
Thanks for the ping!
I was finally able to find the sound bite from the O'Reilly show in question, and there is something fishy about it. Keeping in mind that there is a seven second delay in the dump, then if Bill finds the mere mention of Olbermann's name so offensive, he would have cut prior to his mention; however, the dump appears to have been cutting off something following, perhaps an obscenity? Second, all KO has to go on is some anonymous fellows e-mails or claims. There is no hard evidence that anyone actually got a call from Fox security. It seems to me that O'Reilly was simply reacting to some poor liberal seminar callers attempt to ratchet up Olbermann's claim to fame while defaming Bill's show. It seems obvious to me that KO is jealous of Bill's ratings, pure and simple, and he is trying to milk this as a publicity stunt for his own show. But these things always backfire as it makes KO appear to be a spineless weasel who can't stand on his own merits. This from a poster who really doesnt find OReilly very palatable, but finds Olbermann far less tolerable than any other commentator, television or otherwise.
From the beginning though, Patrick and Olbermann were legends. And especially Craig Kilborn. That's when SportsCenter was DA BOMB!
