A downtown St. Paul charter high school will go ahead with tonight's play about the homeless but decided Wednesday to exclude the man who inspired it after learning he was convicted eight years ago of third-degree sexual misconduct.

The short set of monologues — based on young mothers, former white-collar managers and drug dealers whose lives converged at a St. Paul homeless shelter — was the brainchild of a Dorothy Day Center resident. Over the past few weeks, he teamed up with the drama club director of the Minnesota Business Academy to transfer those real-life personalities onto the stage.

But after learning Wednesday from the Pioneer Press that the man was convicted of having sex with a female minor in 1997, the high school and other event organizers decided he could no longer attend

I wonder if being a convicted sex offender had something to do with him being homeless?

Screwed up 8 years ago, got clean, turned his life around, but he's now branded for life. Having daughters myself, I understand the need to protect them, but this just doesn't seem right. It also doesn't sound like rape or pedophelia if he only got probation, maybe a 17-year-old who lied about her age.

But we don't know what his crime was, do we?

If you want to befriend this man, go ahead, but don't be too surprised if some people are nervous.

Hhmmm...

Learning acting at business school, huh?

Acting how, exactly? And why? Hhmmm...

And since it is located in the Twin Cities, I suspect is might have something to do with "acting out" as well.

Somehow, your comments made me think of wannabe actor Donald Trump.

His performance in the movie, "The Little Rascals", was absolutely stunning. LOL

I have not seen that movie, can "project" thereby get your comment.

I see from your screen name you are an endangered species. My son & DIL live there.
