New Documents Reveal Saddam Hid WMD, Was Tied to Al Qaida
NewsMax ^ | Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2005 12:15 p.m. EST | Carl Limbacher

Recently discovered Iraqi documents now being translated by U.S. intelligence analysts indicate that Saddam Hussein's government made extensive plans to hide Iraq's weapons of mass destruction before the U.S. invasion in March 2003 - and had deep ties to al Qaida before the 9/11 attacks.

The explosive evidence was discovered among "millions of pages of documents" unearthed by the Iraq Survey Group weapons search team, reports the Weekly Standard's Stephen Hayes.

In the magazine's Nov. 21 issue, Hayes reveals that the document cache now being examined contains "a thick stew of reports and findings from a variety of [Iraqi] intelligence agencies and military units."

Though the Pentagon has so far declined to make the bombshell papers public, Hayes managed to obtain a list of titles on the reports.

Topics headlined in the still embargoed Iraqi documents include: • Chemical Agent Purchase Orders (Dec. 2001)

• Formulas and information about Iraq's Chemical Weapons Agents

• Locations of Weapons/Ammunition Storage (with map)

• Denial and Deception of WMD and Killing of POWs

• Ricin research and improvement

• Chemical Gear for Fedayeen Saddam • Memo from the [Iraqi Intelligence Service] to Hide Information from a U.N. Inspection team (1997)

• Iraq Ministry of Defense Calls for Investigation into why documents related to WMD were found by UN inspection team

• Correspondence between various Iraq organizations giving instructions to hide chemicals and equipment

• Correspondence from [Iraqi Intelligence Service] to [the Military Industrial Commission] regarding information gathered by foreign intelligence satellites on WMD (Dec. 2002) • Cleaning chemical suits and how to hide chemicals

• [Iraqi Intelligence Service] plan of what to do during UNSCOM inspections (1996)

Still other reports suggest that Iraq's ties to al Qaida were far deeper than previously known, featuring headlines like:

• Secret Meeting with Taliban Group Member and Iraqi Government (Nov. 2000)

• Document from Uday Hussein regarding Taliban activity

• Possible al Qaeda Terror Members in Iraq

• Iraqi Effort to Cooperate with Saudi Opposition Groups and Individuals

• Iraqi Intel report on Kurdish Activities: Mention of Kurdish Report on al Qaeda - reference to al Qaeda presence in Salman Pak

• [Iraqi Intelligence Service] report on Taliban-Iraq Connections Claims

• Money Transfers from Iraq to Afghanistan

While the document titles sound stunning enough to turn the Iraq war debate on its head, Hayes cautions that it's hard to know for certain until the full text is available.

It's possible, he writes, "that the 'Document from Uday Hussein regarding Taliban activity' was critical of one or another Taliban policies. But it's equally possible, given Uday's known role as a go-between for the Iraqi regime and al Qaeda, that something more nefarious was afoot."

"What was discussed at the 'Secret Meeting with Taliban Group Member and Iraqi Government' in November 2000? It could be something innocuous. Maybe not. But it would be nice to know more."

Hayes also notes that an additional treasure trove of evidence on Saddam Hussein's support for al Qaida may be lost forever.

"When David Kay ran the Iraq Survey Group searching for weapons of mass destruction, he instructed his team to ignore anything not directly related to the regime's WMD efforts," he reports.

"As a consequence, documents describing the regime's training and financing of terrorists were labeled 'No Intelligence Value' and often discarded, according to two sources."

I heard Stephen Hayes on the radio, and he says that there is a paper trail 7.5 miles long, and that he has been trying to get his hands on it. As the article says, he was allowed to see the headlines, and they clearly would raise eyebrows, if not hackles.

Stephen Hayes wrote "The Connection" about the Iraq/Al Qaeda connection. Very informative.

I believe that once these documents are translated and declassified, this will be blockbuster. Or, I guess I should say, it SHOULD be blockbuster.

It never registered with me that the WHOLE WORLD could be suffering such a colossal intelligence failure at the same time, with the same subject. I believe that Saddam had WMDs and that he relocated them prior to the start of the war.

Interesting. It is said our greatest intelligence successes are the ones the public will never know about.

Hopefully, Saddam's WMD activity will be introduced as evidence in his trial. A few weeks of that, and the left will have to find a different reason to trash our war effort.

Sad to say, but this is a "game" the Administration lost a long time ago. They should have gathered up the chemical shells, the "laboratory samples" of toxins, the yellow cake and other nuclear materials, to include the WMD materials that had been under "UN seal". They should have moved the stuff to one central location, handed out CBR suits to any "journalists" with guts enough to show up, and let them film the WMD to their hearts' content. If/when they came back with the "gee, these WMD don't count - they were under UN seal" dodge, the Pentagon spokesman should have said, "since when did Saddam take the UN seriously?" Unfortunately, Powell, Rumsfeld, Rice, et al, were so dumbfounded by the fact that there were no apparent ammo dumps with ready racks full of Chemical artillery shells (as there had been in Desert Storm), that they all jumped into their collective bunkers.

Today If Saddam publicly acknowledged at his trial that he had WMD, and even explained in detail what he did with them, the MSM would say that he was tortured into that confession, or that he was a victim of the "Stockholm Syndrome". If our military recovered documents written in "Chemical Ali's" blood about the Iraqi WMD program, and the current disposition of same, the MSM would denounce them as forgeries, and raise their collective eyebrows about the "serendipity" of such documents turning up at this time.

Oh ye of little doubt and faith.

To respond to every charge is a trap.
To be so busy defending yourself that you don't do your job is a trap.
Those who are not guilty do not have to defend anything.

The DEMS are putting themselves in the spotlight, and this is all coming to a head.

Don't forget, their favorite friend, FRANCE, is ON FIRE.

Kinda makes a bad case for their arguments in a really solid, undeniable way.

Every one of them can and will be qouted stating Saddam had to be removed.
They all participated in voting for resolutions and bills that declared the next President must remove Saddam.

THE WRITING IS ON THE WALL.

Famous phrase: Tis better to keep your mouth shut and have others think you a fool, than to open it and remove all doubt.

and 1.7 tons of enriched uranium.
And who sold it to him? The yellowcake uranium ore?

Niger? The President of Niger?

Who brokered the deal?

Was it the very same company that Joe Wilson owned and went to oversee when he went to Niger on a BUSINESS TRIP?

Once during CLinton's admin and the next during Bush's?

That is what his company does. Bet the DEMS have been panicking trying to hide this.

Cheney and Tenet committed America to losing face when they spoke of "large stockpiles" of WMD before the war. Saddam never managed binary agent capability, at least not operationally. Because the shelf-life of pre-mixed chemicals was so short, he always used a just in time production and delivery system during the Iran-Iraq war. This is common knowlege, has been for a long time, and precludes large stockpiles.

As to what Saddam actually did have on hand as of early 2003, this IA (intelligence advisory) from 1991, indicates what most likely happened to them. Ignore the header, unless you know how to read it and and want to see who this was distributed to, and scroll down to the body, which is self-explanatory.

Leopards don't change their spots.

If our intel services picked this up, back in 1991, when the Intel 80486 DX2-66 was king of the desktop, just imagine what we were looking at in 2003, with P4 1.8 gig machines and the take from DB/ROCKSTARS.

If there were any WMD transfers in late 2002 or 2003, we have identified the genus and subspecies of any and all of the bugs squashed on the windshields, with destinations and disursement, identity of the receipters, route taken, timing and emission signatures, an old news/by the way adjunct.

My money says Iran. We know the WMD went there in 91, we know the Iraqi Air Force went there in 91, and for a lot of reasons, Saddam just didn't like Bashar Assad.

Odds are we won't know the truth for a long time, if ever. "Need to know", combined with Iran's demonstrated crimes that make this look miniscule, make such disclosures unlikely. One exception to this presumption would be if the Iraq-Iran WMD transfers represent the lesser of two evils, in that disclosing them would compromise intel gathering methods less sensitive than would disclosure of Iran's own WMD programs, in setting evidence of casus belli prior to a conflict with Tehran.

Saddam didn't have them moved.
The Russians arranged to move them, whether he liked it or not.
Their stuff, their asses, it being illegal to sell this stuff to Saddam.

They had/have a PLAN in place for the overrunning of one of their 'buyers'.

We saw them move the stuff. We even shot at the convoy. Then we apologized and let them proceed.

WHY? Because we wanted them to move the stuff out so no one else could get to it.

The stuff is under lock and key, but in Syria. (Most of it).

Where the stuff is at is like Fort Knox. The Russians can and will move it again if needed.

This is how my conversation with Libs usually goes...

LIB: There were never any weapons of mass destruction. The whole war is based on lies.

ME: So, you are saying there were never any weapons of Mass Destruction?

LIB: Absolutely not.

ME: Well, there is indisputable evidence that there WERE...thousands of Iraqi Kurds and Iranians would not only testify, but we could exhume their bodies and do testing, that is if the pictures that were taken were not good enough.

LIB: That was then. He didn't have any when we went into Iraq.

ME: Oh? Do you think he used them all up against the Kurds and Iranians? Everything, down to the last drop?

LIB: Uh...

ME: So, he let his country starve and be destroyed because he DIDN'T have chemical weapons. He allowed sanctions to continue because he DIDN'T have biological weapons. He dragged his feet at every turn, obstructed investigations, allowed his once powerful armed forces wither because he had nothing to hide?

LIB: It is a sovereign country! He can do what he likes, it was none of our business! He didn't have to allow us in!

ME: Well, I disagree. When he invaded Kuwait, threatening our oil supplies, it became our business. And he lost that war. He signed those papers. He made an agreement that enabled him to keep his country, which we let him agree to, to our eternal shame. Those resolutions from the UN REQUIRED that he submit to inspections. He was banking on the world being spineless about enforcing it.

LIB: But...but...Global Warming....and...Corporate America....

And so on.
