ADL Breaks With Pack On Church-State
The Jewish Week ^ | 11/11/2005 | James D. Besser

Warning that the Evangelical right has made alarming gains in social and political influence, a leading Jewish church-state watchdog is calling for a tougher and more unified Jewish response.

Abraham Foxman, national director of the Anti-Defamation League, speaking to the group’s national leadership here last week, signaled a sharp shift in ADL policy by directly attacking several prominent religious right groups and challenging their motives, which he said include nothing less than “Christianizing America.”

Among the groups he cited were the powerful Focus on the Family ministry and the Family Research Council.

Foxman said as these groups seek to use the government to further their missionizing goal, Democrats and Republicans alike are “pandering” to the religious conservatives

The bizarre thing is that the Evangelicals are the ONLY pro-Israel, pro-Jewish force in the U.S. The Left despises Israel and wants to see it fail.
So, go figure

There is nothing wrong with Chrisitianizing America, as long as it's not done by government action.

"...signaled a sharp shift in ADL policy by directly attacking several prominent religious right groups and challenging their motives, which he said include nothing less than “Christianizing America.” "

The Christian efforts are in direct response to the overwhelming de-Christianizing of America by the Marxist Radical Humanists. What did Abraham Foxman expect the response of Christians to be to the systematic attacks on the Christian values that America was built upon?

Dear Abe,

Forget this stuff and start going after CAIR. They are your enemy, not American Christians.

It's my experience that the majority of members of many denominations in this country are,in fact, atheists. Unitarian/Universalists and Reform and Conservative Jews feature prominently on this list. If I want to hear opinions from/about Jews that are worthy of consideration,I always turn to an Orthodox Jew.

Rabbi Foxman is *not* an Orthodox Rabbi...therefore his opinions carry no gravitas to me.

“They’re trying to bring Christianity to all aspects of American life. They’re not just talking just about God and religious values but about Jesus and about Christian values.”

And that is bad? Mighty non-Christian of him to be saying things like this.

They're shooting their own allies in the foot now! I also love the part about Republicans AND Democrats catering to religious conservatives. In which parallel dimension is that going on? I want to move there.

Dear Mr. Foxman,

I sincerely hope that my life lives up to your worst fears about Evangelicals.

Sincerely,

Obadiah

Consider that Muslims and those living in the area called Palestine are blowing up Jewish teenagers and other innocents and Mr. Foxman sees his Christian neighbor as a great threat. Astounding!

A moral code based on objective truth, not one's personal feelings. "I will not serve!"

There goes Abe Foxman again, demonizing Christians because the Jewish people have finally realized that Christians AREN'T their biggest threat.

See, Abe doesn't want Jewish people straying off the liberal plantation any more than Jessie Jackson wants blacks straying. So he wants to scare Jews away from Christians, because so many Christians are conservative, and he doesn't want them talking to conservatives.

So Abe will now do a bunch of obnoxious stuff to try to piss off Christians, and will use any backlash against that to prove to the Jews that they can't trust Christians.

Hey Abe - You rather have American Jews say "Merry Christmas" than "Yes, I am a Jew and my father was a Jews... now wait a minute, put away that knife!" Because I got some news for you Abe. The Jewish people need American Christians, just the same now as in the 1940s. And we're NOT buying into your tired old Christian-bating in 2005.

Must be the tendency to label things as "right" or "wrong". Very upsetting to touchy-feely types.

I'm a Jew and this guy in no way speaks for me. There's nothing at all to fear from devout Christians - how ridiculous.

Hey Abe, there's real enemies out there!! Stick a pastrami in it, will ya!

>>>There is nothing wrong with Chrisitianizing America, as long as it's not done by government action.<<<

Would it be okay if a group of people settled America and established a Christian nation? (Hint: American was "Christianized" from the beginning until communist groups, such as the ACLU and ADL, began their deceitful work to de-Christianize America.)

I also love the part about Republicans AND Democrats catering to religious conservatives.

Well, there's a perfectly good explanation for that. The "religious conservatives" that the Democrats cater to all bow down to the moon god 5 times a day...
