Washington Post Assistant Managing Editor Bob Woodward testified under oath Monday in the CIA leak case that a senior administration official told him about CIA operative Valerie Plame and her position at the agency nearly a month before her identity was disclosed . . .

"In a more than two-hour deposition, Woodward told Special Counsel Patrick J. Fitzgerald that the official casually told him in mid-June 2003 that Plame worked as a CIA analyst on weapons of mass destruction, and that he did not believe the information to be classified or sensitive, according to a statement Woodward released yesterday."
Sounds to me like Mr. Woodward is a bit unsure of where to place his loyalty. Should it be with the United States of America, or any other nation that would like his loyalty?
I also think that the ringleader of all the messes that have recently occurred in Washington, had bunches and bunches of trash in their back pocket, just a waitin' to deposit it. My guess is they are tremendously upset that Bush has appointed Roberts as Chief Justice of The Supreme Court(and has been confirmed)and also Alito(yet to be confirmed). These folks ACTUALLY adhere to OUR constitution and that is just a terrible, terrible thing to some. How 'bout if Mr. Woodward spends his time finding out who is NOT loyal to Our constitution, instead of sifting through trash?
I think before any trial takes place, there will be so many he said-she saids and so many memory lapses that a successful prosecution will be impossible. Already we have two contradictions made under oath and one made on TV.
Even professional reporters with notes are having memory lapses.
This is not good prosecution testimony, when the "crime" is misremembering.
You won't see him--it's a white-on-white crime.
So Russert is not a liar and conspirator as people have been claiming?
Mine too. Who would a reporter logically go to to get information on a story about an envoy sent by the CIA to Niger? The CIA, of course. Remember, Tenet and James Pavitt (Plame's boss) both resigned within four days of each other for "personal reasons" along with Jami Miscik,CIA Deputy Director for Intelligence (for what she called a "natural evolution", although rumor has it that she was asked to leave). According to Wayne Madsen, he was told by the DoJ that these resignations were connected to the Plame investigation. While Madsen is considered by some to be a leftist kook, as is Seymour Hersch (who said the CIA admitted they forged the documents), I just can't fathom them publicly reporting false conversations with officials connected to the case. Also, they are normally critical of Bush, why would they print something untrue that would seem to exhonerate the Bush Admin on this?
Excellent observation, Mike.
Even if true that he had heard it from Woodward, that doesnt change the fact that Libby attempted to mislead the investigators and lied before the grand jury. Saying you simply heard about it from a reporter and passed that on to another reporter is not the full truth. Not if you fail to mention that you had heard about it earllier from Cheney, from two people at the CIA in response to your own request, from a person at the state department in response to your request, and then discuss how do deal with this information with three other government individuals...up until the week before you innocently pass it on as reporter gossip.
Darla what did you just say? Although the words are in English, I dont have a clue what you are talking about.
I'm sorry you don't understand what was said.
Hi Southack. "Official A" may or may not be Ari, but he stepped down because he got married and wanted to accept a higher paying opportunity in the private sector. Being a newlywed, he also didn't want to travel as much as the press secretary has to travel.
Shirly Ewejest!
Libby testified UNDER OATH that he heard someone make a comment that they heard Val worked at the CIA during a 9 o'clock meeting but Fitz discovered documentation that the meeting didn't not take place until 9:30 that morning! Libby must be jailed!

Powell would also fit Novak's other description of his source, "he's not a partisan gunslinger."
"that doesnt change the fact that Libby attempted to mislead the investigators and lied before the grand jury."
Hold off on that until after the trial, Dave.
IF IF he lied.
It's a good thing you're not going to be on the jury when Libby is tried.
Mark Corallo, a spokesman for Rove, said that Rove is not the unnamed official who told Woodward about Plame and that he did not discuss Plame with Woodward.
William Jeffress Jr., one of Libby's lawyers, said yesterday that Woodward's testimony undermines Fitzgerald's public claims about his client and raises questions about what else the prosecutor may not know. Libby has said he learned Plame's identity from NBC's Tim Russert.
"If what Woodward says is so, will Mr. Fitzgerald now say he was wrong to say on TV that Scooter Libby was the first official to give this information to a reporter?" Jeffress said last night. "The second question I would have is: Why did Mr. Fitzgerald indict Mr. Libby before fully investigating what other reporters knew about Wilson's wife?"
Libby's lawyers are smiling. DUmmies are claiming foul.

The CIA is best known for what? Creating false identities.
So how hard do you think it would have been for them to create a false "cover" for a falsely covert Plame? ;)
