More bloody consequences of lax immigration enforcement...from Dallas, Tx., via the Dallas Morning News:
Marta Cruz had told police that her ex-boyfriend had been threatening her for weeks.
But as he emptied his handgun in an act of rage early Sunday, police say, his last bullet found another victim.
Dallas police Officer Brian Jackson died of a gunshot wound to his right underarm suffered in a gunfight on Madera Street near North Henderson Avenue in Old East Dallas.
Dallas police officers help secure the scene in the 2400 block of Madera in the area where a police pursuit turned deadly.
"He was proud to be a cop. He did his job with a lot of emotion and passion," Police Chief David Kunkle said.
Officer Jackson was the 76th Dallas police officer to die in the line of duty and the first officer slain since November 2001.
Officer Jackson came to the department in January 2001 from Rhode Island. He married JoAnn DeMello Jackson in August.
Juan Lizcano, a 28-year-old Mexican immigrant, was being held at Lew Sterrett Justice Center on charges of capital murder and aggravated assault. Bail was set at $1 million and $25,000, respectively.
The Dallas Morning News does not mention in the above-linked story that Lizcano has been here illegally for the past two years, and had at least two prior run-ins with the law. According to WFAA, he was "first booked in September for threatening to kill his ex-girlfriend with a knife. Six days later, he posed again for a mug shot for a charge of driving while intoxicated."
Officer Jackson was a Rhode Island native. His hometown paper has background here. An excerpt:
"(Brian) was killed in the line of duty, doing the job he loved, helping to secure the safety of the citizens of Dallas," Jackson's parents wrote in a prepared statement released on Sunday. "He will be remembered for his good sense of humor, his sense of duty and his love for his family."
Jackson was a Kingston Fire Department volunteer and member of the University of Rhode Island Ambulance Corps. A graduate of Portsmouth High School and URI, he had been married only two months to former Charlestown Ambulance member JoAnn DeMello - who works as a pediatric respiratory therapist in the Dallas area.
The couple had just returned from a delayed honeymoon trip to Hawaii, according to Jackson's family.
Jackson joined Charlestown Ambulance as an EMT volunteer in 1995, and later became a part-time reserve officer in 1998 following his completion of the department's training program, McMahon said.
McMahon described Jackson as "a very dedicated, public service-oriented person."
"It's a shame, it's awful," he said on Sunday night. "His life is over, and her (DeMello's) life has been turned upside down."
Officer Brian Jackson, R.I.P.
I'm checking out reports that Lizcano was yet another beneficiary of catch-and-release immigration loopholes. Will pass on anything I learn.

Farewell to a cop's cop
Just doing another job (cop killer) that Americans won't do. Spoke with a friend in DPD yesterday afternoon. Said that the area where the officer was shot is overrun with illegals and it was just a matter of time before something like this happened.
A need for public records from around the U.S. of all the crimes from illegal aliens needs to be counted and waved in front of all media all the time until something more is done about our borders and all illegals.
Well, here is my politically incorrect plan to eliminate illegal immigration:
1) Declare a national emergency on top of what the governors of Arizona and New Mexico have already done and start an IMMEDIATE rotation of National Guard units from all 50 states to patrol every inch of our southern border from California to Arizona to New Mexico to Texas. The illegal immigration problem impacts all 50 states and any governors who do not comply with a request for members of their National Guard units will have to answer for it in their re-election campaign.
2) Fine employers in this country $1,000,000 per each illegal alien they hire (have hired) and a $100,000 per year service charge if they continue to employ that person.
3) Start the construction of a wall similar to the one Israel is currently building all along our southern border.
4) For any illegal immigrants caught trying to cross the border begin the process of finger printing, retinal scans and facial profiling to permanently document their illegal activity before deporting them back to the country where they came from.
5) Deport anyone currently here illegally with no exceptions.
6) Start a guest worker visa program where folks can legally visit the United States for a period of time to work here and potentially begin the immigration process.
7) Continue to encourage volunteers to sign up for duty with organizations like the Minuteman Project to work in conjunction with our border patrol.
8) Pass a new law that states a person having a baby here in the United States must be a citizen of this country for their newborn to be a citizen of the USA. Automatic deportation of the mother and newborn for non-compliance.
9) New immigrants to this country must pass a basic English proficiency and American history test as a prerequisite for USA citizenship.
10) Make English the official language of the United States.
In summary we have to have a 100% absolute zero tolerance policy when it comes to illegal immigration. The candidate(s) who run to represent the citizens in our country on these 10 points will win their election to office in a landslide because the overwhelming majority of Americans support stopping illegal immigration in it's tracks.
I'm for immigration through our already established legal process.
"...2) Fine employers in this country $1,000,000 per each illegal alien they hire (have hired) and a $100,000 per year service charge if they continue to employ that person."
Start with Sonoma and Napa Counties in Kalifornia... who fund billions into the "blue states" campaigns...
PS.
Ya left out, enforcing the enrollment of illegals into our schools and universities, JC programs... universities have been forced to crack down, but the Junior Colleges are still handing out finanacial aid like crazy.
Requiring them to be a citizen I must tell you isn't going to fly. Tell them to be here legally. That should be sufficient.
terrible loss of life. we need to start looking out for ourselves.
That's why I keep my 45 loaded and a spare clip. Dallas crime is out of control because of the liberal/corrupt weenies running the city. Heck, we've got an openly lesbian hispanic sheriff who refuses to comment on the cop killing...and the Dallas police chief was hired because of his 'diversity' track record.
When is our government going to stop sacrificing policemen for polical correctness?
Amen...My .45 is close by also...just waving it scares a lot of people (joking)
Ditto....agree with you on all points and any added points after that
:(
GW is a disgrace on immigration. He visits the troops. Soldiers families come to the White House. But this cop's family will never get an invite
When are you running for Prez? We seem to have a lack of leadership at that level.
New U.S.-Mexico-Canada security plan would virtually eliminate national borders
U.S., Canada, Mexico to tighten security
Any fence/wall will be built on the southern border of Mexico.
Jim Robinson posted a related article about a month ago but I can't find it. There is also a link somewhere to the Council on Foreign Relations' site discussing these plans for open borders between the NAFTA countries.
My guess is that the rationale for placing it on the Mexican southern border will be the Mara Salvatrucha Salvadoran drug gangs. Mexico will somehow be cast as a victim rather than active in the drug trade.
Never, unfortunately.
Insurgents more like it
Just a thought...the msm is enamored of the idea of publicizing the count of our military personnel killed in Iraq. Why not compile a list of those killed by illegal aliens in the US during the same time frame, including death by automobile? Think of the VA family wiped out by the drunk illegal, Dru Sodeen in MN a couple of years ago, the girl killed in Austin last month...so many others that I can recall. Can you imagine what the nationwide total would be? I would imagine that would be very informative, and may get the attention of our pathetic government officials at all levels. If someone in each state would get the figures and then compile them for all 50 states, it would be a great public service...and the msm certainly is not interested in that fatality count.
