Senator Jay Rockefeller reveals
National Review Online ^ | November 14, 2005 | William J. Bennett

What was the West Virginia Democrat doing as a freelancing prewar diplomat?

Yesterday, on Fox News, the following exchange took place between Chris Wallace and U.S. Senator Jay Rockefeller, vice chairman of the U.S. Senate Select Committee on Intelligence: WALLACE: Now, the President never said that Saddam Hussein was an imminent threat. As you saw, you did say that. If anyone hyped the intelligence, isn't it Jay Rockefeller? SEN. ROCKEFELLER: No. The — I mean, this question is asked a thousand times and I'll be happy to answer it a thousand times. I took a trip by myself in January of 2002 to Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Syria, and I told each of the heads of state that it was my view that George Bush had already made up his mind to go to war against Iraq — that that was a predetermined set course which had taken shape shortly after 9/11. While Democrats in Washington are berating the White House for having prewar intelligence wrong, a high-profile U.S. senator, member of the Select Committee on Intelligence tells two putative allies (Saudi Arabia and Jordan) and an enemy who is allied with Saddam Hussein (Syria) that the United States was going to war with Iraq. This is not a prewar intelligence mistake, it is a prewar intelligence giveaway.

Syria is not only on the list of state sponsors of terrorism and the country many speculate is where Hussein has secreted weapons, not stopping the flow into Iraq sent to kill Americans. Jordan and Saudi Arabia have had, over the years, conflicted loyalties. What was Senator Rockefeller doing?

This should be investigated immediately Senator Rockefeller should step down from the Intelligence Committee until an investigation is complete.

I saw that exchange Sunday and I think Chris did an Ok job of pointing out what a hypocrite Rockefeller was, I wish Tony Snow was asking the questions though, he would have really gone after him I think.

Treasonous is what it was. Too bad nobody will notice because of the silence of the MSM.

The LSm will bury this but a good question to ask, should they be so inclined, would be; did the heads-up Syria receive cause it to accelerate their co-operation in moving WMD's from Iraq to Syria before the imminent US invasion?

Rockefeller stepped in the Doo-Doo. A mistake like this would bury a Republican, i doubt we will hear much about this in the media.

It is really distressing to see the open, unabashed, anti american attitude of some of these Bush hating Senators.

When will the Republicans be willing to call them to account for cheering and helping others to defeat us?

They're too busy with their circulation problems to worry about correcting the record.

"did the heads-up Syria receive cause it to accelerate their co-operation in moving WMD's from Iraq to Syria before the imminent US invasion?"

That's the same thing I was thinking. I want an answer to the same question!

Contact your senator and ask for an investigation.

Contact Sen. Roberts (R), Chairman of the Intelligence Committee and ask for an investigation.

If it isn't treason to tell Syria and Saudi Arabia, countries not friendly to us, that our military is coming to their region, before it's been officially announced, then nothing is treasonous.
