Shouldn't our government have more important things to worry about? If the act harms the animal, then it is already well-covered by animal cruelty laws. If it doesn't harm the animal, who cares what some weirdos do with their dogs? It's not like most of the people doing this are going to be caught, so having a law against it at all will have little effect on the incidence. They should just nullify the law completely.

The notion of spending hundreds of thousands of dollars of taxpayer funds to convict and incarcerate somebody for this, is as disgusting as the act itself. There are tens of thousands of severely abused children in this country, with a skimpy crew of poorly trained social workers barely making a dent in locating and helping them. Wouldn't the hundreds of thousands of dollars be better spent on tackling that problem? You know, a REAL problem?

Yeah, I agree, twenty years is excessive, but who decided that the bestiality lobby was owed a favor?

Just mind boggling.

I cannot believe anyone can possibly defend something like this. But then again I couldn't believe anyone would defend the marriage of two men or two women.

One might ask the question: Has the sexual abuse of children increased or decreased as the "sexual revolution" moves inexorably along? Over the past 30-40 years homosexualilty has gone from being classified as a mental disorder and a criminal practice to a "normal" (sometimes "preferred") life style and a legally protected class. Pornography, once detested and classed as a criminal activity, is now protected by the First Amendment and is slowly making its way into prime time TV (it is already all over the cable channels). At the same time religion, morality and what used to be called "common decency" are derided, condemned and in certain locales prosecuted (quote the bible on homosexuality in Canada or Sweden and you can go to jail).

All this "sexual liberation" is supposed to usher in a new age of sanity isn't it? Wasn't the complaint about "Puritanism" and prudery and Victorian morality all about the repression of the normal, healthy and liberating expression of sexuality? Wasn't the basis of human aberration the suppression of sexual urges and wasn't the freedom to engage in sex in all its varied forms supposed to liberate mankind from the chains of a suffocating morality?

I submit that never has sex in all its forms been so freely "expressed" or more openly exhibited than it is today in the western nations. And never have so many people been more lost, alienated, unhappy and just plain loony than they are right now.

None of this is by any means universal. There are large segments of the culture that still practice modesty, self-restraint and hold to those belief systems and values that over the millenia have proven successful in the development of both human culture and human character. But an awful lot of people are making themselves miserable in the exercise of their "liberation" and they are slowly but surely poisoning the society around them by their attempts to spread their bitterness, nihilism and degraded matierialism to the rest of us.

I notice that the promotion of immorality is now endemic in advertising, entertainment and the arts. It is now worming its way into the schools and its promoters are trying mightily to establish it in law by criminalizing those who oppose it. What I see happening is that laws restricting sexual behavior are fast disappearing and into the vacumn created by their deletion pop up laws enabling sexual behavior once considered criminal. It is not hard to see where this is all leading.

The point is that there is no neutral ground in this. We are going to get a culture that espouses self-restraint, responsible behavior and moral order or we are going to get one that espouses unlimited "self-expression", license and moral chaos. If current trends hold (and really there is no reason to suppose they will not) homosexual "marriage", polygamy and polyandry, bestiality and just about any and every deviation one can think of has a good chance of becoming "legal". The movement in this direction has been amazingly swift and appears to be gathering momentum. Those who are trying to stem the tide win largely illusory victories that are quickly overturned in the courts or simply ignored by the ruling elites who favor and promote the trend toward an "anything goes" society.

I could go on and on about how the current trend undermines the nation and western civilization. The expressions of disgust with the west by some of its own citizens, the subversion of efforts to defend the west and the overt or covert support of its enemies all stem from the moral rot that is becoming more and more pervasive. This is an old story doomed apparently to be repeated. I have no idea if the trend can be reversed. I know of no time in the past when such a reversal has occurred.

The so called "diddling" of animals should be taken VERY seriously. Cross species disease is a very serious issue and would be the vehicle for disease we may not be able to impede.

There is a reason for common sense morality.
