Right. Next you will tell me that the Spanish Inquisition did not occur. And, that Hitler was never pursuing the Jesuit priesthood before trying to take over the world. And, that the "Trail of Blood" was just a fictitious writing by a heretic. No, thanks, keep your delusions to yourself.

The Catholic Church stood in the way of progress, including the distribution of the Word of God, by way of the Gutenberg printing press, and other means of distributing a version of the Bible in native languages so the people could see the heresy of the Catholic heirachy.

At least admit that many rules established by the Catholic Church were for political reasons. Then, to justify errant declarations, later Catholic theologians would find a means to apply scripture, until the original intent was lost to history, at which time the pope would declare it null and void.

He wasn't. You're getting confused with Stalin, who was considering becoming an Orthodox priest in his youth. Brush up on some history, ok?

I am not a Catholic, but your thread verily drips with anti-Catholic venom.
All of the inventions that made the modern world what it is today were invented during the Middle Ages: the lens, the mechanical clock, distilling, crop rotation, the harness, the magnetic compass, gunpowder, the movable printing press, cheap pulp-type paper, etc. Many of these were invented in monasterys, which acted as R & D centers, as well as repositories for both secular and religious knowledge. Please get your facts straight before you go on a rant. You only reveal your lack of sophistication.
