A Past Long Gone

Read:
Acts 13:36-41

There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus. —Romans 8:1

Bible In One Year: Acts 13-14

cover According to the English novelist Aldous Huxley, "There are no back moves on the chessboard of life." Yet we remain aware of things we have done and things we have left undone. Our sins worry us. They motivate us to wish fervently that somehow we could undo the past.

That's why those who put their faith in Jesus can be thankful for God's message in both the Old and New Testaments. When Paul preached in Antioch, he said, "By [Jesus], everyone who believes is justified from all things from which you could not be justified by the law of Moses" (Acts 13:39). The law condemned us (Romans 7:10-11), but Jesus offers deliverance and new life (8:1).

Are you worried about what you've done in the past? Rejoice! God has "cast all our sins into the depths of the sea" (Micah 7:19). Are you still concerned about your sins? Rejoice! "Their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more" (Hebrews 10:17). And "I have blotted out, like a thick cloud, your transgressions" (Isaiah 44:22).

If you have put your faith in Jesus and asked Him to forgive you, the past is truly forgotten. "As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us" (Psalm 103:12). Trust and rejoice! —Vernon Grounds

My sin—O, the bliss of this glorious thought—
My sin, not in part but the whole,
Is nailed to the cross and I bear it no more,
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, O my soul. —Spafford

God's forgiveness frees us from the chains of regret.

Touching base last week with two friends who also were in the Marine Corps - -
Paul in California, who was in high school with me, dating one of my best friends, and another Bernie, the friend in Emerald Isle, NC, I've known for 33 years.

Bernie replied with his and his wife, Deane's, activities Friday. He met her when stationed at Camp LeJeune during the Korean Conflict, retired as a Sears executive to their house at Emerald Isle (near Camp LeJeune), and is surrounded with many Marine retirees there.

Concluding his letter was this:

"The other excitement we had was to go to that Young Marine Dinner in honor of all us verterans. I was surprised to learn that the Young Marines are actually kids from ages ten through high school age. They are young people who are sponsored and coached by active duty Marines, U. S. Marine Corps Reservists and civilians who teach these young people manners, pride in their country, how to obey orders, military history (as well as the history of our country) and thoroughly in neatness in personal gooming and dress.

They welcomed us, served us our spaghetti dinners and policed up the tables and area as we went through our meals.
They stood at attention when addressing us and showed us that there is still a part of our youth today that we can be very proud of.

A State Senator from Onslow County was there to be a part of it all and he stayed to have his picture taken with each of the sixty Young Marines who were present tonight. A great Veterans Day celebration was enjoyed by all in attendance."

"So, all in all, it was a great day. A day of soaring spirits to an evening of pride in our youth, our country and the freedom we all enjoy because so many gave so much over the past two hundred-plus years."

=============================

Only a Marine base area would have such a wonderful outreach to the youth of the community!!

Morning Rus & all FReeper Finest FRiends.. I am not up early.. I am still "doing Sunday". Got busy w/photo editing & after 5 hours could not literally move! the meds had worn off and sitting & plugging away at computer made reality go into a haze of sorts. I was so sore I needed to CRAWL to the bathroom to get meds.

Thank you Sir for the faithful posting of Military Monday. I am so very proud of our men & women who serve. If they would take me (and take care of mom) I would gladly go again & do whatever they think I could do..

In my photo editing came across a lot of pix of my "adventure team partner" John Mike ... age 18.. whom I have posted regarding in past. He might already be in the sandbox...

Prayers for John Mike..Mozart Lover's Son, soon to join him in Mideast & all of our fine young men & women who have left those they love to do their part in the glorious pilgrimage & heritage of our country.

God's blessing on the troops and their loved ones who miss & love & (of course) are worried CRAZY about them. Here is a pix of John Mike & me 3 years ago...

Good Morning FR Finest.

Our Troops fight for our freedom and keep us safe.

We should thank our Troops every day and show our support for what they do,because they sacrifice everything for us.

Always remember that.......

It is the SOLDIER, not the preacher,
who has given us freedom of religion.
It is the SOLDIER, not the courts
who has given us the right to keep and bear arms
It is the SOLDIER, not the reporter,
who has given us freedom of the press.
It is the SOLDIER, not the poet,
who has given us freedom of speech.
It is the SOLDIER, not the campus organizer,
who has given us freedom to assemble.
It is the SOLDIER, not the lawyer,
who has given us the right to a fair trial.
It is the SOLDIER, not the politician,
who has given us the right to vote.
It is the SOLDIER, who salutes the Flag,
and serves under the flag.

So join me in saying........

God bless our Troops and their families!

God bless the USA,the land that I love!
