Venezuela's Chavez tells Mexico's Fox: 'Don't mess with me'

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez accused Mexican leader Vicente Fox on Sunday of disrespecting him and his close ally the Argentine president, warning Fox: "Don't mess with me."

Tensions between Fox and Chavez spilled over after this month's Summit of the Americas in Argentina, where Fox sought to defend a U.S.-backed proposal for a free trade zone while Chavez proclaimed the idea dead.

"President Fox left bleeding from his wound," Chavez said during his weekly radio and TV show, echoing remarks days ago in which he accused Fox of being a "puppy" of the U.S. government for supporting its plans for the Free Trade Area of the Americas.

Chavez recalled a folk song from Venezuela's cattle-raising plains about a thorn, saying it seems appropriate for Fox since "you're a man of horses." After reciting the lyrics, Chavez said: "Don't mess with me, sir, because you'll come out pricked."

Sounds like Cuba doesn't it?

Fidel has visited Venezuela on several occassions to inspect the progress of Venezuela's "revolution" and Chavez also visits Fidel to receive instructions on a regular basis. What a pair, they belong to the Murdering Despot's Mutual Admiration Society!

I have been told by someone living in Miami that some time ago while watching a news report of a Castro visit to Venezuela, she was flabbergasted at Chavez waiving goodbye and literally throwing kisses at Fidel as Fidel was leaving!

It is obvious that the brain behind all this is Castro. His bloody fingerprints are all over Latin America, trying to stir up as much trouble as possible.

Those F-16's won't fly, they require all that is no longer furnished by the US to keep them aloft.

That's not much of an air force for a country with a trillion dollar GDP.

I don't know. But Mx and Vz may be a pretty good fight. Maybe it would even be worth seeing on PPV.

Feel the love, Vincente?

I have about as much respect for mexican politics as I do for french politics. That being said, I think I'll make some popcorn.

Seriously, Vicente's leading opposition is basically a communist party, is it not? That should explain to a lot of FReepers why our administration is so close to Fox's. Better the devil you do know than a lot of stinking commies next door.

Fox isn't about to do anything except carp on about the evil United States and its racist attitude concerning illegal Mexicans invading the country.
As for Chavez? Yeah Mexico and its intimidating army would have trouble having a war against Haiti.

"Who would win in a war between Venezuela and Mexico?"

Mexico. It would be in our (the US) interest to see Chavez go down. We would help our "Neighbor to the South." And maybe set up a "40 acres and a mule" resettlement plan for Mexicans in Venezuela. That way they will migrate south instead of north.

Chavez is now a dead man walking.

Fox sits on the top of a multi-billion dollar drug cartel and is Mexican.... both of those facts make somebody very proud....

If a really proud Mexican man gets "dissed" in public and I'm assuming in front of his family.... well....Chavez will have an airplane accident, get shot or get cancer within the next 2 years... ping for the "I told you so".

Maybe that's why Bush is so nice to Mr. Fox..... he'll take care of his "Venezuelan" problem.

Wonder if this article was "putin" approved? Putin and Chavez are the best of friends, I will have to watch to see if Fox gets some Putin attention.
