Venezuela's Chavez tells Mexico's Fox: 'Don't mess with me'

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez accused Mexican leader Vicente Fox on Sunday of disrespecting him and his close ally the Argentine president, warning Fox: "Don't mess with me."

Tensions between Fox and Chavez spilled over after this month's Summit of the Americas in Argentina, where Fox sought to defend a U.S.-backed proposal for a free trade zone while Chavez proclaimed the idea dead.

"President Fox left bleeding from his wound," Chavez said during his weekly radio and TV show, echoing remarks days ago in which he accused Fox of being a "puppy" of the U.S. government for supporting its plans for the Free Trade Area of the Americas.

Chavez recalled a folk song from Venezuela's cattle-raising plains about a thorn, saying it seems appropriate for Fox since "you're a man of horses." After reciting the lyrics, Chavez said: "Don't mess with me, sir, because you'll come out pricked."

It's Bush's fault. (I've been wanting to post that for some time now)

He sounds like a total drunk to me, bellowing like a bull. And such a pervert, too, note that cattle 'prick' remark.

Time for Fox to send some corrupt cops to Venezuela.

Sounds like Chavez is the real power broker in Latin America though.

If only Hugo Chavez and Maureen Dowd could be sentenced to life together on a remote desert island. I'm sure we'd all take up a collection to send them, if only the proper arrangements could be made. She'd finally have a leftist man "worthy" of her and he'd have just the kind of cackling hen he deserves........

"This Chavez will eventually have a bullet in his head."

And now that he's managed to tick off Mexico, he won't be able to blame it on the U.S.

Wouldn't it be interesting if Mexico sent some crummy hitman from some dump like Nuevo Laredo or Tijuana to take care of business? Chavez wouldnt' know what hit him, he's so busy looking for CIA under his bed, he wouldn't realize that Mexicans could be quite a problem for him too.

.. and from his own people, no doubts. Chavez's behavior is not leadership, is not professional.. it is the talk of a thug. And his loose lips will be sinking VZ relationships not only in the larger, real world; but he'll probably whine he's being discriminated against, in the backwash. So. No new plan here from the Dems or their allies. Parallel: Dems sinking CA.. Chavez trying to sink SA. Hmm. Parallels in the cosmos.

Well, to be honest, not as powerful as the Venezuelan air force, the hemisphere's finest - with its fleet of F-16s. Mexicans will just have to do it low-tech Mexican style, a wetjob rubout, something they can do.

Chavez is a hilarious egomaniac. Who would win in a war between Venezuela and Mexico?

The Mexican what? They can't even handle flying commercial airliners :)

I think Mexico would win. The Venezuelans would be celebrating their liberation. The Mexicans would be thrilled at the chance to get out of the country.

Fox then threatened to flood Venezuela with illegal immigrants if Chevy didn't STFU.

Not really, but he is trying to be.

Lulu from Brazil is the real powerbroker of latin america.

He is also smarter then chavez and castro.

Chavez himself is a lackey who idolizes Castro and wants to follow him.

But threatening Fox is just pure stupidity.

They have less then 20 fighters (F-5s). They have some light strike aircraft and attack helicopters. The bulk of the FAM is comprised of logistics and support aircraft.
