2008 GOP Primary: Giuliani 26% Rice 24% McCain 21% (Rasmussen)
Rasmussen Reports ^ | November 13, 2005

Posted on 11/13/2005 2:28:18 PM PST by RWR8189

November 12, 2005--Unlike the Democrats, there is no clear frontrunner for the Republican Party's 2008 Presidential nomination.

Three candidates, former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, and Senator John McCain all are favored by more than 20% of GOP voters. Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist are the only other Republicans to reach the 5% level of support.

McCain is the leader among the minority of Republicans with an unfavorable opinion of George W. Bush.

If the three leading candidates do not run, "Not Sure" takes over the Republican lead at 30%. In that scenario, Gingrich is the top choice for 27% of Republicans and Frist is next at 11%.

Senator Chuck Hagel, Senator George Allen, and Congressman Tom Tancredo were also included in the survey. None of them reached the 5% level of support.

A plurality of Rice supporters favor Gingrich if the Secretary of State is not in the running. A plurality of both the McCain and Giuliani supporters move to the Not Sure category.

New York Governor George Pataki attracts more of Giuliani's vote than any other Republican.

CrossTabs are available for Premium Members.

A separate survey conducted earlier this year found both McCain and Giuliani leading the Democrat's frontrunner Hillary Clinton.

Ask anyone who was part of the 'disengagement' in Israel whether Dr. Rice is their friend or not. They know that the withdrawl from Gaza had a distinctly American smell about it. The slogan for the anti-disengagement was "Jews don't deport Jews" and was in fact a constant comparison to the expulsions of the past in Europe etc.

No one who wore orange in Israel this past year would think I was blowing smoke. They would think my words about Dr. Rice were too KIND.

Please expound your facts to the rest of us regarding Dr. Rice. Further, please post your resume, so we can compare and contrast yours to Dr. Rice's.

Can you READ, our are you a member of the C.F.R.? Sheesh, spend a little time reading something other than the funny pages. Dr. Rice's statements about Israel's disengagement from Gaza and President Bush's staments about using the 1949 lines for negotiating are the FURTHEST any US adminstration has gone to declaring their emntity for Israel. Dr. Rice learned well from her C.F.R. master, Brent Scrowcroft.

The reason why Rice would defeat Rudy in a primary battle is rather simple: the National Rifle Association. There isn't a movement conservative alive who doesn't know that Rice's position on the Second Amendment is purist-as in, Scalia-like textualist. Rudy, otoh, has a liberal Republican approach to RKBA issues that would be used by the right as a wedge against him.

Wayne LaPierre and the boys would back Condi over Rudy in a heartbeat.

The key to the Republican Party is not abortion. Condi can go to the country with what she stands for now, a state's rights position on the issue, take the nomination, and win the election. She could not do that if she were a gun-grabber. If she were, she would end up like Christine Todd Whitman-forgotten. RKBA is the glue that holds the party together.

Be Seeing You,

Chris

Doesn't really seem to me that Israel is in that bad of shape at the moment, as far as regional threats go. There's still a long road ahead, but at least you're not wandering alone in the desert like when the good Dr Rice and company found you.

First, I am not Israeli. Second, only someone without a basic understanding of Middle East politics would consider NOW better. Instead of killing terrorists in Israel, Dr. Rice wants Israel to be nice to them. Let them in on the elections. Please. Can you imagine us telling the Iraqis that they must allow their terrorists on the ballot? That is what Dr. Rice did to Israel in insisting that Israel permit Hamas on the ballot. Dr. Rice may like dead terrorists... but only if they are not terrorizing Jews.

You, sir, are insulting.

If you displayed this attitude towards any of my staff, you would be dismissed immediately, and escorted out of the building by corporation security personnel.

If Rice turns out to be our candidate, which I doubt, I will be behind her 100%.

I care a whole lot more about my country, which happens to be the United States, than I do about Israel.

Israel is waaaaay down on my list of things to consider when voting.

As a matter of fact, I don't consider it at all.

It irks me that we have to be Israel's mommy, anyway. Flame away.

Like it or not, there WILL be either a 2-state solution, or a no-state solution.

Dream on, dreamer.

So, I call on you again: You called her antisemitic. Back it up with actual quotes, take it back, or kindly pursue a less printable option.

I don't have time to do your reading for you. Try Arutz Sheva. It is English, and aimed toward Americans. As for what is anti-Semitic, you obviously don't know the definition.

Rice should be President because the US is so much better off since the day her imprint was stamped on US foreign policy.

Her successes are too numerous to list.

But someone try. Please.

The MSM love Mclame and Rudy and throw in Rice as she is not going to run for any office.

B.S. You made the accusations on a public forum; you should be willing to back them up when someone calls you on it. Otherwise, you're engaging in slander.

And I'm not even saying that I don't believe you...

I sincerely hope the 2008 race IS Rice V. Clinton contest. I'd pay big and travel far to watch those debates - Condi would slice Hillary to ribbons!

Afraid you've got it backwards.
